Prep work is key to having the desired finish. If you won't a shiny piece after anodizing then polish it to a mirror finish before anodizing. Also a super fine 000 steel wool is good to help polish as well as a metal compound and never dull will work as long as the anodized surface was done correctl...

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't smut basically a "flash" oxidation? I've only encountered smut when I'm done sealing my parts

Here's a few things I've anodized. I also found 000 steel wool works excellent and doesn't scratch the anodized parts. Smut is found after the sealing process as well.

Hey guys new here!
Been into rc since I was 11 im 32 now and I still love the hobby. I have 1 rc10gt plus and 3 rc10gt2's
Also have 3 large scale gas boats and 2 5th scale gas trucks.

Hey new here first post. So I've learned how to anodize myself and everything about what you've said is true. It's not simply dipping metal in various baths to get the desired result and its absolutely critical to have the desired surface finish first before anodizing otherwise it's not going to com...
