Re: Value of NIB RC10?

I can't speak to the relative rarity of the 6016, but I was slightly shocked when I saw they had the $80 retail price on the bearing bag. $80 back in the 80's was a good chunk of change. I remember an Optima Mid bearing set running me $30 or $40, which was a lot of money for a kid back in the late 8...

Re: Value of NIB RC10?

The "answer" is...a NIB #6010 is valued at approximately $600, on this particular day, to a particular buyer. I don't think it's a horrible thing to make these things public knowledge, with the obvious knowledge that prices can and will vary. I do apologize for not fully reading the forum ...

Re: Value of NIB RC10?

Yeah, I saw that one too. The seller indicated theirs is a 6010 and mine a 6016. Both our boxes have the "made in America" sticker, but those are on all the boxes I recall seeing.

Beyond the chassis stamp, I'm not sure how to differentiate the production date.

Re: Value of NIB RC10?

Nothing out of the ordinary, but everything still in the original packaging. Box is in really nice condition. Just thought I'd share for everyone to enjoy.

Re: Value of NIB RC10?

Oh yeah, I got it. I'll throw up some pictures of what was inside the box in a couple days.

Re: Value of NIB RC10?

Well, I was very disappointed with the Yokomo being gone, but she didn't give it away, either. Sold it to another guy a couple days ago for $200, apparently. Both the RC10 and the Yokomo had an asking price of $200, so she knew they were worth something, but they also came from an estate, so she was...

Re: Value of NIB RC10?

Turns out it was a NIB #6016, not a #6010 as I had thought. Got it. Unfortunately, the RPS Yokomo they also had sold a few days prior.

Re: Value of NIB RC10?

Thank you for the input and comments. I figured I'd get a few comments of a certain nature, and that's fine. That's what's great about the internet, right? As to the rationale on why I would buy it if I'm not sure I want to keep it, I think this sort of decision relates pretty well to other situatio...

Value of NIB RC10?

First of all, I want to apologize if this has already been addressed in any other threads. I did a search as best as I could, but couldn't find anything. I also looked on Ebay completed auctions, but was unable to find an exact match. And I also know that "value" is ultimately a function o...

Re: Optima Mid

Thanks for the info on the 480 Gold - I never knew that's why they were numbered as such. I remember back in the day when Tower Hobbies was having a closeout on...I think it was the SPA 240? Anyway, we cranked the timing way up on those bad boys. We could afford to shorten their lifespan for the sak...

Re: Optima Mid

Sloooowly doing a restoration on the Mid - making it good enough to be a runner, anyway. Here's an easy one for many of you - what turn motor is the 480 Gold? I presumed it came with the one of the 240's, but instead it came with the 480 Gold. If I remember correctly, this is a "better" mo...

Re: Optima Mid

Thanks to everyone for their assistance - I am very grateful for all the help. I'm not sure if I can tell which are the older vs newer style of wheels for the ZX-5. I don't mind if they widen the stance - in fact, I figure that's a good thing for performance. If I'm reading correctly, I should proba...

Optima Mid

Hi all - I'm new to this forum and just got back into R/C after a 15+ year hiatus with a Traxxas Slash. I used to own a number of vehicles back in the day - my favorites were the Optima Mid, JR-X2, and YZ-10. I recently purchased an Optima Mid off Ebay and would like to make it into a runner, as the...
