Yes, later! Unfortunately I don't have a PC with a card reader here so I cannot post photos before I get back home
Also I'll open a new thread for this Optima Mid project.

Re: Optima Mid LWB belt is too tight?
Type in "Bullet belt" on Ebay and You´ll find at least one (Fireboy125) Thanks, yeah I was looking at that earlier too. I'll first see how the other parts would fit with this bullet chassis like body and belt covers. If they don't fit nicely then I'll rather acquire or even make a proper ...

Re: Optima Mid LWB belt is too tight?
The original belt from Kyosho says 254XL for the LWB and 240XL for the SWB. The car's original belt says "MBL Synchrostar 240XLF014" and the LWB belt is labelled as "OTW-7 (254XL014)" in the plastic bag. Perhaps You´re using lazer diffs?(don´t know if they fit at all) Lazer diff...

This is longer than the original LWB chassis. That link doesn't seem to work, Dennis--requires one to login. ;) F...

Optima Mid LWB belt is too tight?
Hi, I am building an Optima Mid LWB. It is an SWB to LWB conversion. I apparently have an Optima Mid Custom Special graphite chassis and an LWB belt. I checked that the belt has 127 teeth and is apparently the correct length (one groove is approximately 5 mm and that times 127 equals 635 mm). I meas...

Re: Project ecloptima (a Kyosho Optima restoration and upgra
Re: mounting the body - I like the way kyosho did it on the front of the mini z optima and I have considered doing the same on the 1/10 scale version. Basic idea is cut the whole front off and tape it or Velcro it. The part behind the tower goes under a lip going across the tower. Manuals are onlin...

Re: Project ecloptima (a Kyosho Optima restoration and upgra
It might be awhile until I get further with the restoration. So meanwhile here is a photo of the wheels and tires painted. I need to apply a second layer of paint and fix them up a bit, but they came out pretty nice: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/nsh/ecloptima/2013061519-00-58_5580_zps7bc7a...

Re: Project ecloptima (a Kyosho Optima restoration and upgra
I thought about the same too and I also plan to use 3mm carbon so I guess it should be fine.

Re: Project ecloptima (a Kyosho Optima restoration and upgra
A bit of progress finally! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/nsh/ecloptima/2013061320-33-09_5578_zps6e0f4937.jpg Disassembled the original chain drive diffs and washed off all the old grease. Added the diff gears inside belt diffs and greased them with new silicon grease. Added ball bearings to...

Re: Project ecloptima (a Kyosho Optima restoration and upgra
My original Optima was sold to a friend back in '90/'91ish... Great that you can still visit your original Optima :) Here are some tips that worked for me. Thanks for the tips! Highly appreciated. Can't help with measuring the shock mount, it was replaced with the kit one years ago. I have attached...

Re: Project ecloptima (a Kyosho Optima restoration and upgra
Thank you for all the comments and info! Nice project, I wish I still had my original Optima. Where did you lose your original Optima? Recently a complete set of new red shocks sold on ebay for £145. Most other parts come up regularly, but unless you want absolutely perfect new items the prices are ...

Re: Project ecloptima (a Kyosho Optima restoration and upgra
Yes, I will try fix the front guard better before actually screwing it in place.
The photos show the results of my attempt to fix it in the 80's which wasn't so great

Project ecloptima (a Kyosho Optima restoration and upgrade)
I am restoring my old Kyosho Optima and adding the upgrades that I could only dream of back then. I'll track the process here. I hope you enjoy! I am lucky that I decided to keep this car as I almost sold it back in the early nineties. Fortunately I changed my mind when the first caller called and t...
