Re: Optima Mid Questions/Help
If running a mid, then top of the hop up list would be thorp or mip hardened center gear. Other than that, the car can handle brushless and lipo power. EVerything else is just gravy. Although, the more serious a person is regarding racing, then the more important the upgrade path becomes. I wouldnt ...

Re: Optima Mid Questions/Help
Optima mid is probably the best car to get started in vintage rc collecting and restoring. Parts are plentiful, cars are plentiful. The platform can be raced hard core, and everybody loves a mid!

Re: Optima Mid Questions/Help
IMO. best way to build mids is to buy up a couple or a few relics from ebay. Often in a job lot of parts cars there will be some rare parts, or some nice hop ups. This way one can build their dream car, and then have spares,, and possibly sell off a couple after enjoying the builds. Folks try to get...

Re: new optima diffs into optima mid?
Yeah, it looks like the new optima rear diff gear side is much finer pitch than the old mid version. I suppose opt mid was 32 pitch. Ive got a thorpe center gear,, but my last diff gear is a mess. No worries,, I found some!

Re: YR-4 custom buggy conversion
I recommend against delrin or acetal. Its more brittle, can possibly break on hard impact. Nylon will be better. Honestly I havent run either for suspension arms,, but I have machined both materials,, and acetal(delrin) is generally not used for structural items. Mostly for gears and fixtures. In pr...

Re: YR-4 custom buggy conversion
Hi MrEd, can you do a .dxf file? Ive been toying with making arms on a manual mill, but would like to try sing my cnc. The material i have is too thick, so I would likely add a rough cut process to the mix, or possibly mirror the process on each side to produce symmetrical arms.

Anybody have a yz4? Looking for some info
Has anybody bought into yz4 yet? Im wondering what size bearings the layshaft slipper assembly rides in. Also, has anybody compared the axle cvd assemblies to vintage yz10 units to see if they will fit any older models?

Re: Yr-4 / Yz10 slipper retrofit. Some help please?
The slipper clutch assembly for later yz10 will go right into the standard center motor mount bulk head. They are a bit hard to find, and lately, might as well be gold plated. Folks are getting top dollar for completed units. that being said, theres an mx4 slipper assembly on ebay for less $$, but I...
