Looks fantastic! Love the engine!
A Sand Scorcher is something I always wanted but could never justify spending money on for such old tech. That said, a freebie basket case would be an awesome project.

Anyone make 'tall' 1:12 mounted foams nowadays?
I'm still tinkering with my eBay rescue RC12LW that only came with three wheels/tires, and the rears are of the old two-screw variety. I think I've managed to find a way to assemble a working diff and thrust using the original rear axle and RC4Less three-screw hubs. So now I need to make it a roller...

It looks out of place but I dig it!

Brushed ESCs and 550 vs 540 motor limits
I've seen a few brushed ESCs that advertise they will run 550s but the motor turn limit is usually lower than what 540s it'll run. The Traxxas XL-5 is a good example, 12T 550 vs 15T 540. Why is that? Wouldn't a torquey 550 pull more amps and strain the ESC more than a same-turn 540 would?

What's your favorite & least favorite steps when building a new kit?
Favorite: Building transmissions, specifically ball diffs. They are like the heart of an RC car and I love the attention involved in assembling them correctly. Least favorite: Oil shocks. I used to enjoy doing them but nowadays I dread them. A lot of messy work and they rarely bleed properly the fir...

Re: Is an rc10b6.2D ok for carpet?
I don't own a modern RC10 and I don't race. That said... The two have differences to optimize them for specific racing surfaces, yes, but the cars are so similar that I doubt a casual racer could tell the difference or even take advantage of each car's capabilities. I'd say if the B6.2D is in great ...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
A Tamiya Torque Tuned motor for my Sand Viper since it donated its original 540 to my Grasshopper. And not today specifically, but: A cheapo Surpass Hobby 12T 550 I got for all of $11 off Amazon for my Axial EXO Terra I'll finish someday... maybe. A Dynamite Twin Tazer brushless motor/esc I bought a...

Re: Traxxas cars... I get it now
I finally got my last needed part to complete my Bandit, a stock unpainted body. As with pretty much everything else with this 'project', I'm impressed with Traxxas' quality. The body and wing are neatly cut and I like how the wing wire mounts and integrates both together. Heck, even the wing wire i...

Reedy Upgrade Exchange Program
Has anyone taken advantage of the Reedy Upgrade Exchange Program? Looking through their list, all I'm really interested in is swapping out some old (even some new) low-end servos, maybe a motor, maybe an esc. Seems like doing this would be lots easier than trying to eBay this stuff onesy-twosy for m...

Re: RC12L (W?) questions!
Doing some Googling tells me the front end and chassis is most likely from TRC, but they had their own rear pod design(s) so not sure if the chassis is from a 3rd party like Composite Craft to meld the TRC front end to a 12L rear or if it was a different car altogether. Someone here will certainly k...

Re: RC12L (W?) questions!
That certainly does look like an RC12L rear pod, but the front suspension is not 12L nor does the chassis have 12L suspension mounting holes. Pan cars are somewhat new to me so I can't help beyond that but I'm sure the wizards here will chime in. :) I'm in a very similar situation with my own 12LW: ...

Re: Bandit wheel options?
I received my order from A Main today which consisted mostly of Traxxas parts to help button this thing up. I did buy a set of pin-drive white dish wheels but it turns out I'm not going to use them just yet. A while back I had bought a set of unbranded mounted B4 hex-style wheels and tires off eBay ...
