Re: Kyosho Inferno 1992 (MP3) Build
Thanks Lavigna! For the longest time I couldn't find the BSW-55, but then I saw it bundled together with an assembled Turbo Inferno on auction (with a new BSW-60 blue chassis too). Now I'm trying to find period correct electronics, with the Inferno I'd look for the right receiver too since it's visi...

Kyosho Salute Project
Hi everyone! This isn't quite the usual order of build that I'd like to share. My 'donor' car is a vintage Kyosho Salute, that I'd assembled about 6 or 7 years ago. Some recent vintage parts that I was able to find led me to want to re-configure my Salute to resemble the first Optima I had owned (a ...

Re: Kyosho Salute Project
So in those days I was always fascinated with shock absorbers. I recall trying to make my own custom shock towers to fit Land Jump 1/8 shocks to my Tomahawk! The used Optima came with these large gold shocks with pink springs. This was aftermarket for the Optima and preceded the Option House gold sh...

Re: Kyosho Salute Project
This is a wing kit from You-G. It's more for looks and I doubt it will hold up to a few flips. I am hoping it will go well with my Salute shell later. 20211026_112014.jpg The wing tubes and bracket were meant for the standard Optima rear shock mounting plate but fortunately my extension plate had th...

Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion
Kyosho's decision to re-release the 1/12 Fantom has really helped introduce to the world today an iconic model back then better known domestically. Interestingly they picked the 1983 version and not the Fantom EXT. The 1983 Fantom had basically no form of suspension, and that was addressed at the ti...

Re: Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion
The entire front end would carry over from a standard 1983 Fantom. In my Fantom, I had already put in some Tech parts, namely alloy drive and half shafts, lightened screws, lightened drive cups. I had the front bulkheads and steering knuckles hand polished and anodized a matching gold. 20211028_2252...

Re: Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion
The 1983 Fantom had late versions that came with a separate FRP bracket to support the servo saver shaft from below. This was needed for the Tech chassis. At the rear of the Tech chassis, designed cuts allow for some flex and articulation of the motor pod. 20211028_234152.jpg 20211029_003254.jpg 202...

Re: Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion
Now with rear assembly mounted. The rear left and right bulkheads are also from Tech. The tube between them, and the left hub spacer are Kyosho but I had them polished and anodized red. Also fitted, a Kyosho graphite rear axle. Hubs are Kyosho and also polished and anodized gold. 20211029_005158.jpg...

Re: Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion
Next with upper radio tray added. The additional radio tray post in the middle stiffens the main chassis section to allow rear motor assembly flex. Silicone tubing and piano wire provide a little damping action to rear flex suspension. 20211029_014520.jpg I fitted re-release Fantom pre-glued tyres, ...

Re: Kyosho Salute Project
I added some vintage Futaba gear - the S132H servo is probably close to the time of the original Optima, to my recollection in 1984. The MC116 ESC and receiver would be a little later, I believe 1990.

Re: Kyosho Salute Project
The Salute didn't come with universal drive shafts. Rather than go for the Option House ones, I opted instead for these polished stainless steel ones from the brand Phoenix. 20211103_222547.jpg They add some ascent to the suspension arms assembly. 20211103_224440.jpg 20211103_224535.jpg

Re: Kyosho Salute Project
Today I installed the Kyosho Le Mans 360PT motor, the very same model I had before so it was a nice moment. I mated it with a 13T pinion gear.

Re: Yokomo YZ10 97 JMRCA Specification
Hi Dual,
That’s a beautiful’97 !
May I ask if those are Team Suzuki hubs that came originally black anodized?
And did Yokomo ever released the Pavidis front one-way pulley as a spare part?
Best,
Shian

Mugen Athlete 1/8 Build
Building a survivor kit from 1994 - the Mugen Athlete 1/8 buggy. Purple was the theme, car and box! This was launched in the year with the Kyosho Turbo Inferno. This buggy has its unique design language, in my opinion. Some Mugen optional parts from the Team version of the Athlete will be added. 202...
