Re: So, what did you do RC today?

Did some cutting and paint on the optima mid worlds. Got the paint pretty damn close. IMG_20250520_175302507_HDR.jpg Before you ask, no i don't have a formula i just kept adding white to Mission MMRC-011 RC Aqua till it looked right. Cutting the body to work with the Exodesign chassis was fun. I cut...

Re: So, what did you do RC today?

Stickered up and final trimmed and mounted the body and wing. Wing is not perfect, really hard to get paint on the inside area of the sides but it's acceptable for a runner.

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

AE should be commended on letting folks relive their childhood. You can now pour over pictures of your favorite kit and say, "That thing is awesome, man I wish I had the money", just like when you were a kid ! Unfortunately I think they're just releasing cheap Chinese junk to protect their...

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

AE is late to the party for sure, other manufacturers kept kits in production, tamiya and traxxas kept parts for popular kits in production nearly continuously. Most of those kits had little value because you could just buy parts. AE tried doing re-re’s before and fell flat on their face, rpm lost e...

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

If I had known all the re-re RC10 versions were coming, I probably would have gotten fewer vintage models that need rehabilitation. I haven't built my re-re RC10 kits yet so I haven't experienced their level of quality first hand. Eventually I'll get to them though. The re-re's have definitely hurt ...

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

I don't think I have any particular feelings about them. I'm just glad I was into vintage r/c before it was cool. If I had the extra spending money, I most likely would have grabbed 2 of the team car kits. I have 2 replicas in mind and I would have raced them at upcoming Vonats. The Kinwald car is p...

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

On my side of things, I do like it because it means more parts for my running cars. I do not, however, like how AE is rapid firing new kits out the window at a mind numbing pace. I'd prefer they slow down and do a better job with them. The first release I've bought was the Kyosho Turbo Scorpion and ...

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

What do I think of Re Re's ? Well there's definitely two ways to see them but for me it's always been about the driving experience, I want to know how the dream cars of our past actually drove and for the most part the Re Re will do that better than an old restored car with the added bonus that you ...

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

I think that it's 1/2 good, half...something else that I can't put my finger on. Keep in mind some of the people that the first run of Re-Re's brought in drove me nuts in the 14' era. It's brought a lot more to the track for sure, which is awesome! It's killed vintage values which is both good and b...

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

There's even people re-packaging used parts to make them appear new at a quick glance. But yeah, looking closely at the header card staples is a very good practice to have! They're a tell-tale sign or the holes they leave if the package has been tampered with in some way.

Re: Thoughts on the Re-Release Movement in RC

Just talkin about the rc10 reres, but the thing that made the rc10 badass back in the day, even to a kid just running one at the neighborhood jump spot, was that it was the "import fighter", and would whoop your friends tamiya with extreme prejudice. The rere rc10s are an imported asian cl...

Re: Double X CR modern racer

Track day on Fri, steering has improved with lighter oil overall, opening up the rear pistons . Ran super tacky JC Ellipse slicks (typically better low speed steering, lighter, but edgy) and Rawspeed Gumballs (heavier, more high speed steering, less low speed steering) The day started in the 13.1 se...

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

I watched a Kestrel just destroy a quail once in my yard. Frickin' came in at 0.7 Mach, talon gripped it into the dirt and just started squeezing it, started pluckin' feathers and breasted it out under the cherry tree. Amazing circle of life kinda thing. I think they are the fastest bird in some cat...

Re: Picture of the day. (Taken by you)

True story: My wife's dad wanted to surprise us by having doves released at our wedding as we wa came out. The second they let them go, a hawk swooped in and attacked one. Luckily it lived. My brother in law said he saw it perched up there waiting but couldn't find the guy to warn him. 🫣
