Re: My Ultima GP ST "Type-R/EVO" 20th anniversary project with 3D printed "CF" parts.

Looks like your really putting the printer to good use ! I love mine , they just open a whole new world of possibility :D . How is the CF PETG to use and how strong is it ? I've never used it , I've used a lot of CF Nylon and its a superb material and very easy to print with compared to regular Nylo...

Re: My Ultima GP ST "Type-R/EVO" 20th anniversary project with 3D printed "CF" parts.

Thanks for the reply on the CF PETG , I'll be very interested in how it stands up to sharp impacts as the regular PETG is kind of split personality , it flexes in low impact but shatters on high impact , I was just wondering if the CF holds it together better in high impact situations . The YouTube ...

Re: Marui Hunter "enhanced" re-created with 3D printing

That's looking really good , I'd be tempted to do a fast test print of the front end to check the fit with stock parts like you have with the rear , nothing worse than printing the whole thing for 8 hours to find a minor mistake and having to do it again specially if you've put fillets in as its a p...

Re: Marui Hunter "enhanced" re-created with 3D printing

Try printing the gears , they may not last as long but are expendable for people who want to run them , looks like your using Fusion 360 and there's a gear making tool ,you select the pitch , lash , tooth number and centre hole diameter and it creates the gear . When printing use a raft to avoid ele...

Re: Marui Hunter "enhanced" re-created with 3D printing

To a degree you just have to go with your gut on reinforcing , in the highlighted area maybe a vertical fillet outside and inside might help discretely , stopping at the bottom above the suspension mounting on the outside .

Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)

Hi HiTec and welcome in my thread :)! Great work! I think my "Super" arms would fit great to one of those chassis. 8) https://hitecmods.kuvat.fi/kuvat/RC/Marui%20Hunter/Marui%20Hunter%20rear%20lower%20arms%20universal%20shim%20compatible%20super%20arms%20v8.png/_medium.jpg https://hitecmod...

Re: Marui Hunter - My first buggy... Found one to restore :-) - and a Galaxy RS too :)

The gearbox cover with rear susp supports looks awesome btw! I might have to silently use that idea in my own chassis as well, cause that looks slick! Your parts also look great, already saw them in thingiverse. Hats off for your great work! My problem is that i have almost ready chassis, but i hav...

Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion

Kyosho's decision to re-release the 1/12 Fantom has really helped introduce to the world today an iconic model back then better known domestically. Interestingly they picked the 1983 version and not the Fantom EXT. The 1983 Fantom had basically no form of suspension, and that was addressed at the ti...

Re: Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion

The entire front end would carry over from a standard 1983 Fantom. In my Fantom, I had already put in some Tech parts, namely alloy drive and half shafts, lightened screws, lightened drive cups. I had the front bulkheads and steering knuckles hand polished and anodized a matching gold. 20211028_2252...

Re: Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion

The 1983 Fantom had late versions that came with a separate FRP bracket to support the servo saver shaft from below. This was needed for the Tech chassis. At the rear of the Tech chassis, designed cuts allow for some flex and articulation of the motor pod. 20211028_234152.jpg 20211029_003254.jpg 202...

Re: Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion

Now with rear assembly mounted. The rear left and right bulkheads are also from Tech. The tube between them, and the left hub spacer are Kyosho but I had them polished and anodized red. Also fitted, a Kyosho graphite rear axle. Hubs are Kyosho and also polished and anodized gold. 20211029_005158.jpg...

Re: Kyosho Fantom 1/12 (1983) Tech/Giken Model Chassis Conversion

Next with upper radio tray added. The additional radio tray post in the middle stiffens the main chassis section to allow rear motor assembly flex. Silicone tubing and piano wire provide a little damping action to rear flex suspension. 20211029_014520.jpg I fitted re-release Fantom pre-glued tyres, ...
