Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

A couple of motors and ESCs from Frankentruck, and a new driver for my Hilux. This stuff always gets me about Tamiya! You can order this driver from any Tamiya RC retailer today, and it will be the exact same driver that came in your 1981 Hilux 42 years ago!! Weird that my digital Hilux manual doesn...

Re: Bored? Come To The Chit / Chat Thread

This one was on eBay not too long ago. Although I don't think it's the one from the magazine: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-1980s-advance-engineering-10-3844913772 Nailed it!!! Thank you so much!!! Those pics give me 90% of everything I need to know about this car. I have...

Re: Tres Compilaciones De Futaba FX10s

Tub is pretty much done. Next part is a body, which I am hoping to recycle, but getting that last 10% of paint off is a PITA! If I do get a body recycled, 100% of this project will have been insourced, even down to the consumables. I could get used to this free project stuff!! Oh, and don't get bogg...

Re: 1/12 scale Off-Road racing opinions

Just my opinion, but I think 1/12 only became popular because it was run on local indoor tracks, and square footage costs money. It is cheaper and easier to own and operate a 1/12 indoor track than a 1/10 indoor track. Heck, the only indoor track around here is a Mini-Z course. Once you got o...

MIP 4X SRB Project: Gonna Have A Lot Of Questions

So, I stumbled into this MIP 4X in a lot that I picked up yesterday, not having any idea what it was, outside of being cool. I am just starting to break it down now to get a jist of what is there and not there, and get nylon soaking. I am going to have a lot of questions because I would ultimately l...

Re: MIP 4X SRB Project: Gonna Have A Lot Of Questions

So, I knew the chassis plate had an engraving on the bottom of it when I bought it, and I had thoughts of what it might be, but then talked myself out of it. But really, if it isn't what I think it is, is it just an odd coincidence :?: The founder, and current president, of Moore's Ideal Products is...

Tamiya Hilux Pickup Build

Going to throw together a little build thread for my Hilux. I went looking through my emails, and I purchased this rig around July 2006. I ended up buying two Hiluxes, and putting the better parts into one build, and selling it off for close to what I had in the pair. From that point on, the rig (in...

Re: Tamiya Hilux Pickup Build

Got into the chassis and axles next. Most of the chassis parts were fine and just needed cleaning. The leaf packs on my truck had been cut, to basically removed two of the three leaves. This would be because the packs are incredibly stiff, so people would modify them. I had Bruiser packs sitting aro...

Re: Tamiya Hilux Pickup Build

Next would be the electronics box. This would be crucial as once covered, it covers half of the upper chassis. Problem was, mine was in junk shape. The "transparent" plastic is/was a lot like old record player covers, it is clear, but darkened. Well, mine had multiple spider cracks coming ...

Re: MIP 4X SRB Project: Gonna Have A Lot Of Questions

Really nice score. Does it have an MIP or Thorp diff? It has a diff that looks like this. TRANS INTERNALS.jpg At some point today, I remembered the fantasticness of Aero Kroil (now just called Kroil??), and went and bought some in just liquid form instead of aerosol. I am just leaving the...

Re: Tamiya Hilux Pickup Build

What a fascinating build, thank you so much for taking time to document it here. I really appreciate how you've found work-arounds and innovative solutions for broken, missing or damaged parts. Of course, your time and effort will not go unrewarded. This model brings crazy money these days. There's...
