And don't forget that parts get replaced over 30 years time. Many times, its with whats available.

If I had to choose an item to study closer, it'd probably be the ball cups.

Yeah it's a Cadillac car. And probably either had parts replaced or running changes made. It's also possible that some one fitted newer parts to a car missing pieces to get it whole again.

Now to figure out what the correct tires, wheels and other things like tie rods should be How "correct" do you want to be? Unless you get lucky, nice early style 3 piece wheels and corresponding tires tend to be kinda stupidly priced. I went with the JConcepts 1.7/1.9 tires are wheels on ...

Welcome (from another recent arrival!) :D Like you I always admired the RC10s (and Optimas) from afar being primarily a Tamiya owner in my youth. Not that it was really an option (due to finances!) when I was younger, but it makes me realise what I was missing with the quality of the non-Tamiya kits...
