Tamiya Lineup 1982

Whether mud season or Christmas Season Tamiya was excited to display their ever-growing lineup of off-road vehicles in these advertisements from 1982: Rough Rider: Tamiya's original 1/10 2wd electric off-road racing buggy released in 1979. A scale version of Funco's Single Seat Baja racing buggy. Sp...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

That settles it, going with the cage style up front for the SS. Need to figure out which model. The paint choices didn't get any easier today, knowing the manual may be pointing to TS-10 French Blue. TS-10 French Blue, TS-93 Pure Blue, TS-44 Brilliant Blue Still can't decide. Hmm, tough one... Thin...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

Got the vintage tires today, front tire on the right is pretty solid, the other on the left is like an old bike tire that sat out in the sun, look at all the cracks. "Go find another set", is about all that can be said about this - this set took about 3 months to find. That's heartbreakin...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

Since most of the body is blue, I'd probably shoot the white first. Not only will it require less masking, assuming you're applying paint directly over bare plastic or over white primer, the white will remain nice and bright and not tinted from the blue beneath it. Also, French Blue really pops when...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

This Mint 400 documentary, looks like the 1978 Tamiya Catalog, the Blazing Blazer is featured prominently: Not a fan of 70's music but the theme songs used in era were way better than the heavy metal intros youtubers use now... ...whole thing had a "Magnum P.I." feel to it. Too cool. 👍

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

No Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath for you? Not a guitar fan? The 70's had lots of brass bands, and orchestra style arrangements, those are entertaining to revisit. I dig a good lead guitar, but I'm... selective... with 70's music. I like Paranoid and Zoso (IV) in particular but as a decade ove...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

Liked the Wurlitzer/Rhodes keyboard synth 70's stuff too, this one is stuck from 3 or 4 years old, can hear this one in a quiet room still  The synth keyboards for Rockford were awesome. But, hands down the best use of a harmonica in a TV theme song, ever  Got the front bumpers swapped. T...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

For favorite blues harp in a TV theme, I have to vote for this one  The shabby junkyard front tire I have, will work until I can find a replacement. The glycerin put it back in decent shape, the other stuff seals the moisture in. Will see how that tire looks tomorrow, going to soak it in more ...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

The build is looking great! The tire lettering really takes it up a notch 👌 You have inspired me to move the Buggy Champ in front of the Fighting Buggy build!

Thanks for the inspiration 👍👍

Top Force re-re vintage racer

along with my recent Factory Works Fox build, I’m now building a 4wd to race in Vintage demo at this years Aus Nats. Re: The RC Corvette in - (1988) The Dead Pool - Clint Eastwood

I asked Mid-America - https://slotcarstore.net/pages/1-10-Car-Bodies-U2679.html - if they would remake the Parma '63 Vette #10218 - AKA The Dead Pool body. I'll report back what they say. Just happened to be stumbling around looking for cool things when I found Parma's making the Deadpool Vette bod...

GoMachV's Grasshopper build

This must be my like 35th or so grasshopper/hornet build lol. I kinda didn't know where to stop, it almost didn't get the aluminum gearbox but I'm so glad I did it. Then I started thinking about the aluminum chassis too but I think that's too far  As with most of my recent rere Tamiya builds I ...

Re: Tamiya Buggy Champ - 2009 Reissue Rough Rider

Didn't know if I was going to be able to get through this masking job. Definitely the hardest I've attempted yet. The hardest part of all of this, for me, is the top behind the driver, where the black pen marks are, that radius and fit overall about made me give up. Going to let this sit and look i...
