Re: The retro-not-real Turbo Ultima build
Shocks assembled and in place. Added a splash of Turbo visual effect  Last night I took the cordless dremel, marker, and chassis outside to the woodshed to cut and grind the Marwan body shell fit to the shocks and towers. (Dust and noise) It is sitting on the body posts; work in progress. The ...

Re: What Type Of Nylon Is Used On AE Vehicles?
In my opinion, 6/6; reminds me of an unfilled grade I run at work based on overall flexibility.
I haven’t burned it for a smell comparison.
Best I have without an FTIR

Re: What Type Of Nylon Is Used On AE Vehicles?
The Zytel ST801 gained the industry trade name “super tough” back in 80’s, totally makes sense somebody would choose that for this demanding application.
The NC010 in the name is their code for natural color (golden/off white).

Re: What Type Of Nylon Is Used On AE Vehicles?
That’s how it’s done!! I dabble in material selection of injection molded resins; the discussion is pretty boring without the excitement of destructive testing! Some things you can’t quantify either…some materials stress whiten or have things happen because of the part design. So the actual testing ...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!
Excellent we are talking about slightly oddball boosted cars! This one is my baby…1991 Dodge Colt w/4G63 swap. Owned since 2001 and I’ve driven it swapped for well over 100K mi. Best it’s gone in 1/4 is 12.1@117. It makes upper 300whp to the tires and weighs 2380lbs full of gas. They don’t make any ...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!
Here is one of my better financial decisions. Bought this 1991 F150 2wd back in 2016 for $1500. Has 5.0 EFI, AOD Auto, 80K mi, porno red interior, and zero rust on anything. The 91 is the last of the F-series sporting no-airbag, no-ABS, and hi/lo dimmer on the floor. It was built with union pride in...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!
Wow I am impressed by the love for the old fords! I have a 13’ F-150 XLT coyote that the cab corners and rockers are rotted off of, it has almost 200K, and I keep telling myself “I got another 5 years of driving that thing”. It’s basically a denim blue metallic version of mikea96’s but waaaaaaaaay l...

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
AAE69675-3147-449D-9C4F-51A8F29DAE4C.jpeg It’s been pretty RC filled the last few days. The Dirtmaster builds for my nephews, this is where 12 hours of effort got me. It’s the finishing details now. Overall they’re pretty nice cars though, those plastic shocks feel a lot better than I initially gav...

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
8) I think putting one of these kits together should be a required engineering intro class called “how to read the freakin manual 101” (heck it even challenges me!!) That Sand Viper is a great choice and I think there are a lot of exciting options out there on the budget side of the hobby. It has be...

Re: So, what did you do RC today?
GoMachV…You hit the nail on the head about the Dirtmaster manuals. I had some re-do steps and not all of them were due to my own inattention. Then a few parts in bags where you don’t expect them to be adds a fun element to the project. Between the 2 kits, one had aluminum slipper discs and the other...

Re: The retro-not-real Turbo Ultima build
There are some great parts in the 87 WC kit now that I better understand what the JJ came with. The trans alone; aluminum slipper discs and 7075 top shaft along with the HD mid gear are added option parts from Kyosho on this release. I believe the CVA’s are the same as the JJ. It has the same offset...

Re: The retro-not-real Turbo Ultima build
Thanks Trey!! We are closer to a Turbo Ultima with the wrong colored shocks now. :D Todays update...for better or worse, I bought another Marwan ultima body/wing/decals. We're gonna at least try and use up a little bit more of that Duratrax Competition Orange paint can! (and I could use the Lexan fi...
