A new chassis when yours gets scratched up. They killed the market value of all the tubs, so just put a brand new one on and don't sweat it!

Yeah, what said. Replace the 3/16 x 3/8 bearings in your existing carriers with 1/4 x 3/8 bearings, swap in your new axles, fronts fit without modification.

Thank you both for your replies. Parts inbound. Next problem is finding 1/4" shims in the UK. I misplaced a few and cannot work out how to find spares here. Any tips? Could I go for 7mm (1/4" = 6.35mm). You can probably find these: https://www.amainhobbies.com/schumacher-1-4x5-16x0.004-ss...
