Re: vonMarshall stepping into the dark side of RC10 from the safe cuddly world of Tamiya

Welcome vonMarshall!! I haven't been here a year yet, but I came yearning for a 40th kit in box art on a shelf to look at. I learned about the 89 & 91 Masami cars, 4-10 kit evolution, and what a WOIN build is all about on this forum. Just those few items seemed to really crank up my RC10 fever a...

Re: vonMarshall stepping into the dark side of RC10 from the safe cuddly world of Tamiya

Welcome aboard ! Although the focus is RC10's this is a pretty broad early RC car interest forum here and some of the most helpful people you could wish to find , I've been in residence for years and only own one RC10 with mostly a collection of all the dream cars I never had as a kid probably much ...

Don't worry... no one here understands Associated's new manuals either. :P

Re: Best way to buy and build my ultimate hybrid RC10

Hi all, new member here who has spent far too much time looking at RC10s across the internet and has now decided to take the plunge and get going on building my 1st. I am a very experience RC builder but never done an RC10 before and have watched a lot of the build videos on YT so know what I am le...

Re: vonMarshall stepping into the dark side of RC10 from the safe cuddly world of Tamiya

Hi all, 1st post here. Kicked off my RC habit in 1982 with a Tamiya Sand Scorcher, saw the odd Kyosho but never an RC10 in real life. I feel back into RC back in 2002, stumbling across a Tamiya 959 on ebay, sending $500 in cash to the seller in Japan (no Paypal in those days!), waiting nervously fo...

Re: Best way to buy and build my ultimate hybrid RC10

Ooo... interesting build proposition. JoesphS had some pretty good thoughts. There's a few 40th kits on eBay in the UK for £450-£525 add a Stealth trans from £80-£170 with a Factory Works (username GoMachV here) Stealth drilling template www.ebay.com/itm/303982690875 ...or you can print one from her...

Re: vonMarshall stepping into the dark side of RC10 from the safe cuddly world of Tamiya

I wrote a book and forgot to click "submit" and lost it all. Reader's digest version: an RC10 is not a particularly difficult build compared to anything else (except a Grasshopper  ). In the end, it is still just tightening screws, pushing pins into place, snapping on e-clips, e...

Tamiya Toyota Hilux

In 1981 Tamiya launched into a new segment of off-road vehicles with their 1/10 4wd electric Toyota Hilux. Constructed almost entirely out of metal Tamiya’s new pickup doubled down on the scale realism that made the SRB line so popular. The Hilux featured a pair of rectangular tube drop rails connec...

Re: Best under guard for our re-re RC10s

I'm a fan of paint protection film. (automotive type, I didn't spring for the fancy 3M stuff) It fits all brands of RC's, easily replaced, inexpensive, and see-thru clear so you can see the chassis color. I know TBG sells a lexan undertray to fit the 10/10T chassis; I'm sure other lexan vendors do a...

Re: Best under guard for our re-re RC10s

As the title suggests, I am planning on running my hybrid RC10 and want to keep that gorgeous gold chassis as clean as possible. I also rather like the idea of being able to fix the body using velcro on the tray instead of punching holes in it. I am in the UK and don't get to see all the cool stuff...

A new chassis when yours gets scratched up. They killed the market value of all the tubs, so just put a brand new one on and don't sweat it!

Re: 1/4” wheels on Teams car… what do I need?

Yeah, what ☝️ said. Replace the 3/16 x 3/8 bearings in your existing carriers with 1/4 x 3/8 bearings, swap in your new axles, fronts fit without modification.

Re: 1/4” wheels on Teams car… what do I need?

Thank you both for your replies. Parts inbound. Next problem is finding 1/4" shims in the UK. I misplaced a few and cannot work out how to find spares here. Any tips? Could I go for 7mm (1/4" = 6.35mm). You can probably find these: https://www.amainhobbies.com/schumacher-1-4x5-16x0.004-ss...
