Since your initial post, I've been looking through the money pits in eBay for some old HO slot cars, but everything I like must be made of gold. The name and sign are fabulous! I need to find some of these fancy Sharpies!

I received some $ for Xmas this year, so i ordered one of these. First new RC I've purchased in a long time, and by far the most expensive!

Its the new Losi LMT, solid axle monster truck. Comes RTR as a Gravedigger or Son Uva Digger. I opted for the roller version instead, without electronics or body.

If it was easy, anyone could do it. At least this toy has an internal combustion engine. I think that lessens the baby's toy effect.

Well done! The printed parts and chassis repair look spectacular!

I was thinking an SCT of some sort, too. They have a large body that covers all the sensitive equipment (and sharp edges), they are easily tune-able and most are quite robust. Plus, cheap ones are all over the place. Nothing vintage about them at all, but they seem to fit the rest of the requirements.

I agree. The LEDs won't pull very much current at all, so you should be fine with any of those options.
