SRB Hop Up Pics & Info Thread
Was talking with J-sou about SRB hop ups, and the lack of pics and information on the web.
What is out there is scattered about, thought it would be cool to have a spot for them here.
Would also be neat to see pics of SRB's from back in the day in race trim.
If you have any hop ups, racers etc.. lets see em!
I'll get the ball rolling with a front roll bar I found on the bay.
And an old pic of it installed on a highly modified SRB.

Re: SRB Hop Up Pics & Info Thread
yep, I have a RCH front sway bar in the pack, it comes with the sway bar and zip ties.
Not much to it compared to the rear bar.

Re: SRB Hop Up Pics & Info Thread
RCH motor part number "1800".
It's a fully modified Igarashi mill.
- Bearings at both ends.
- The endbell locking tabs have been removed and the yellow tape holds the endbell in place.
- A flat has been ground on the pinion end of the shaft for the grubscrew to seat properly.
I don't know how many turns or winds it has. Mike Reedy used to hand wind his own Igarashi motors.
It's a good bet that this one is hand wound too.

Love the motor, these are the kind of parts we need to see, stuff you just don't see too often.

Re: SRB Hop Up Pics & Info Thread
Received 3 of these last week.
Race Prep Aluminum Wings, in my opinion the best looking of the wings available at the time.
Will use 1 on an SRB, the other 2 will be used on vintage Scorpions.

No probs Mike. It's good to re read the old mags and refresh the memory.scootmike wrote:VERY COOL!
Thanks for posting these!
Those wings are cool. Do you have to come up with your own mounting system for them?

Re: SRB Hop Up Pics & Info Thread
Thorp spur gear adaptor part number "4420".
The Kimbrough spurs and their relative pinions are 48dp.
The screws needed to bolt the spur to the adaptor are 4-40 x 1/4.
It's well worth having this adaptor if you're building a racer as the gearing is a lot more flexible.
It's not a rare hot up, but I thought it's worth mentioning here. It allows different gear ratios to be used besides the stock gearing. RCH, CRP and MIP had adaptors as well. Below is a list of pinion/spur combos that can be used with it.- Pinion 15T Spur 70T FDR 9.3:1 Stock gearing
- Pinion 18T Spur 78T FDR 8.67:1 Kimbrough spur #145
- Pinion 21T Spur 75T FDR 7.14:1 Kimbrough spur #144
- Pinion 20T Spur 65T FDR 6.5:1 Stock gearing
- Pinion 24T Spur 72T FDR 6:1 Kimbrough spur #143
