Experts question, very early RC10 pts differences, new find?
Does anyone know all the early RC10 parts differences?
I know of the;
Tires
Battery straps
Rear spring cups
and now I think I have found another In a parts lot I have an RC10 rear arm (just one) which looks exactly like a regular RC10 rear arm except the front hinge pin mount is shorter (it hasn't been cut) and in the middle where there is normally just a circle between the webbing it actually has an X as the webbing continues through the circle. To me it would be obvious why the design was changed to the rear arm we know (stronger hinge pin mount and more clearance for the dogbone). So I was wondering has anyone else seen this before? Or is it an after market arm (doubtful as it'd be worse than standard)
The pic I have is rubbish but I have adjusted the contrast so the differences show up. The arm in question is the lower left one which unfortunately has been dyed black

The "short" arms started with the World's Car, and all the subsequent black replacements were short. The replacement arms used to come with a bit of paper giving the explanation and part number for the (truck) inner hingepin. White arms were always "long".
If you dig around the Kinwald 93 car pics you can see he used the long hingepin with spacers fitted (probably was a favorite set of Ti pins).

the rear shock towers are different also, the early ones only have 1 hole on each side for the shock mounting, the later ones had 2 positions.
Spring Cups were also slightly different between early and later, Early ones had no "Cut" in them, so if you wanted to remove the spring, you had to unscrew the ball joint at the bottom, later ones had a cut to just pull the spring up and pop the retainer out.
i also believe the plastic shock bushings are different on earlier cars and later cars, i think early ones have a "solid" fill bushing style that allowed no play in them, and later ones had a "ball" shape on them to allow for slight movement as today's modern ones do

Does this mean there are different lengths of rear hinge pins for those rear arms?

if you have an old pair of arms, say a white pair, they would be part #6380. if you went and bought a pair right now from tower, you would need part #7356 (truck inners). the 6380's are a little longer, like temple stated, but they'll work fine.RichieRich wrote:Does this mean there are different lengths of rear hinge pins for those rear arms?
only the inners are different. the outers are still part #6381.

Thanks Jason. The reason I ask is because on the Tekin conversion kit, the Tekin arms have that "extra" bit of plastic. That extra bit gets in the way of the motor endbell when trying to mesh a 20 tooth pinion to an 81 tooth spur. So, this set up (new rear arms plus truck inners) should give me enough wiggle room to make it work.scr8p wrote: if you have an old pair of arms, say a white pair, they would be part #6380. if you went and bought a pair right now from tower, you would need part #7356 (truck inners). the 6380's are a little longer, like temple stated, but they'll work fine.

Is it possible to get 'long' black arms? I seem to have a brand new pair.
