hi
i won a hobbyking 6.5 turn motor of ebay for a few euro and am looking around for a cheap esc.
it is going in a b4 so i know it's a bit of a handful but that's the one i won so it's what i will have to use.
my question relates to the current rating of the esc. the motor is the one in the 100a combo. but the motor specs say the max current is 41a. do i need a 100a esc? will 60 or 80 do? bear in mind its only going to be in a b4.
with the way stock comes and goes on hobbyking it would be good if i had more options to choose from. also if i could find something in a eu or uk warehouse that would help with customs (they caught me last time).
i ordered some pinions so i should be able to experiment with that. i have a 19t 21t 23 and a 26t. i am imagining 19 or 21 to be where its at or am i way off?
any help greatly appreciated.

yup 6.5 will be a handful on a 2wd if you aren't a top driverdamian wrote:hi

in 2wd, 60A usually is enough but with a 6.5 I'd go 90A or 120A. for pinion, depends which spur you have but 21/81 should be in the ballpark. Check AE's gearing chart for help.
Do you do vintage stuff too???

Re: brushless motor and esc matching
for the 6.5 you def want the 120amp hw xerun. the 60's are only rated down to 8.5 off road.
that said, i hope you can wheel because 6.5 in a 2wd buggy is nuts. i ran 8.5 for a while and it was silly fast but i could barely keep the nose down on a 180' straight.
now if you are just doing speed runs on the street then the 6.5 will be fine, but if you are running in 2wd mod buggy the guys with 10.5's are gonna kill ya unless you are great driver.
i stick to 10.5 and can destroy guys with more motor because they spend more time on the pipe! slow is fast!
