Re: Son of a........... Internet/Tad Help
It's still all a bit risky imo trying to circumvent your employers security protocols..
If I really wanted to visit RC10Talk and eBay at work (and if I wasn't an Internet Researcher) I'd just buy an iPhone, problem solved

A related question.
If someone were to send you a PM or email with a linked image of, let's say questionable content, can these firewalls and snoopers pick up and log where your computer has to go to get the image or does the firewall just block the linking address - no log of the questionable content request?
Hypothetically speaking, would it be possible to get Tad ... er, uh, someone ... fired by doing this?

Re: Son of a........... Internet/Tad Help
LOL. If a click-able link is clicked on, then yes. A decent firewall can intercept that transfer and log the location the "questionable" content. But if you link an image inside an email or PM, there is no stopping it. It can be detected and logged but our IT department is not going to fault some one for what is being sent to them. But if they take the time to go in search of such materials, IT here can and has compiled information for the investigation of employees searching "questionable" site on a frequent basis. This has resulted in 2 terminations I know of.Halgar wrote:A related question.

Other businesses have their own policies but I guess the straight up answer to your question is Yes. If they want the information bad enough, it is all there for them to see.
