Orion/Reedy deal mid 1990s

Post by Tim W. »

What was with the Reedy/Orion deal in the mid 1990s? Why did the AE team run Orion batteries for a bit with Reedy motors when Reedy had their own batteries prior? 1995 Worlds for example? I've always wondered this and hope someone has an answer!
Vintage rides: Worlds car, RC10T, RC10GT, XX, Rally Weapon
Current rides: B5M CE, T5M, SC5, MBX7, MBX6-T, 8IGHT 2.0, K1

I remember Orion "matching" cells back in the mid 90s. Ensuring the best matched packs. Their name was something to contend with that's for sure. I would take a stab and say they did it to help sell more cars. Orion > Reedy (in 1995) and still today Orion makes some of the most amazing high discharge mini lipos out there.

Back then it was more about winning then brand loyalty.
