This is perhaps a bit more recent than other builds on this sub-forum, and less "vintage". I couldn't pass on this buggy for the price, as I bought it with a nicely modded RB6 in a package deal. I love racing my RB6.6 and 7SS at our local carpet track, so giving an older rear motor car a go should be an experience.
The car came a big bag of spares, lovely Velvet shocks, and best of all, a second RB5.
Very nice! I just recently purchased an open box RB5 for a nice price. It was only missing the transmission tray. The other cool part is I was able to source a sword body for $6!
I while back, we were asking each other about projects and new builds. Here's my RB5. It's not vintage but a few people had interest in seeing a pic. So, here it is.

LOL! Ok, I guess in order not to be made fun of at the track, I should keep the little white thing off. Thanks for the tip!! :D
I like to share a new design for Ultima RB5. This is a solution for the player who feel the RB5 is too fancy. Then he can convert his RB5 into vintage style.
But I'm not sure if it gives any help for peformance improving.
How do you think?...

I like it. But, I'd want a used RB5 - otherwise it would be so expensive and I wouldn't like downgrading a new car.
I'm looking for info on this infamous car. Been racing for 25 years and just this year went to Kyosho and I love the RB5wc/sp and recently picked up a used original TypeR and would appreciate hearing from any fellow fans.
thanks

after looking at more pics that it is the stock hardware and even though I don't like it (didn't like em when I had ultimas and optimas either) I'll leave it stock and just replace a couple that look incorrect. Plenty of ti and alu bits in the...
OK, I know it's not vintage but who doesn't like a nice bit of machining? :D From the same people who make & distribute the Predator 4wd buggy (Team Extreme)

My first new RC car in 15 year!
Hi All, I'm new to this board and have been reading lots of the Optima Mid posts here getting inspiration for my own build. There is a lot of great info here. I have started restoring an SE and had a question about the belt covers.
I have original...

Thanks for the pro tips! Really like the idea of the masking tape - nice clean lines as I was a bit worried about the mess with silicone sealant. I think at this point all I'm really missing are the rubber belt cover piece and the silver wheels...
Between all of the recent threads for Optima Mids and the crappy weather yesterday, I was inspired to sit in front of the tv and tear down my project. This picture is it's current state with all the old parts and some new. I bought a new body, wing...

Hi, new member here. I thought I'd share some photos and thoughts on restoring my old Turbo Optima Mid. It's taken a couple of months, and I've loved every minute of it :D
So, my old Turbo Optima Mid was in a box gathering dust since the early...

Very nice restoration. Quite a difference between before and after pics. Well done!
Welcome aboard, by the way.
Here are some pictures of my latest Ultima restoration. Unfortunately, this build went really quick and I didn't take any pictures of the progress. All I have is the original before picture:

The green body is actually a proline butterfly with the sides cut off. It was a new body, but the previous owner packed it badly and one of the sides got crushed during transit :x I decided to chop off the sides and it looks pretty decent.
