In 1991 Kyosho released two 1/10 electric off-road buggies to the market, a revised 4wd Lazer, now in ZX-R guise, and the all new 2wd Triumph which replaced the venerable Ultima buggy:
Triumph: Double deck carbon fiber (US) and fiberglass (Japan) chassis with adjustable (20/25/30 degree) front kickup and rear toe (1-4 degrees). Narrower front bulkhead and longer a-arms front and rear. Turnbuckle adjustable camber links at all four corners. Ball bearing supported double bellcrank steering with turnbuckles and servo mounted servo-saver. Carbon fiber shock towers held Kyosho Gold shocks (1/2 inch longer up front). Aluminum motor plate, 48 pitch slipper clutch and low center of gravity belt driven transmission with ball differential protruding into chassis. Metal dogbones and axles. single piece nylon dish style wheels wrapped in ribbed front and mini spike rear tires. Clear lexan body and wing, molded wing mount, mini front bumper, and full bearings included. Sold unassembled less radio and electronics.
Lazer ZX-R: Double deck carbon fiber (US) and fiberglass (Japan) chassis. 4-wheel lower a-arm suspension upgraded with turnbuckle camber links. Revised carbon fiber shock towers retained Kyosho Gold shocks (longer up front). Bushing equipped unicrank steering with servo mounted servo saver. Quick release saddle battery arrangement in slotted chassis. Mid motor, slipper clutch mounted 48 pitch slipper pinion & spur primary. Belt driven transmission upgraded to ball differential. Open belt 4wd system. One way bearing and ball front differential. Universal front and dogbone rear axles. 2.2 single piece dish wheels sported mini spike tires front and rear. New lexan body and wing, molded wing mount, front bumper and bearings were included in the unassembled kit, sold less radio and electronics.
