This is my first post, new member, Howdy y'all!!!
Ok, I found this board, and am completely amazed, and happy that my hobby is not dead. The other day my neighbor had a walmart special remote control car out and was driving it around (it was his 4 year old son's car so I wont give him too much trouble about it) But that got me excited all over again. I started building cars in 1986, I was 14 at the time, the last car I ever purchased was a gold pan RC10, ball bearing set, magnum jr with mini servos, tekkin speed controller, 360st motor, I think that was back in about 1989 or 90, most likely 89. Anyway, in 1991 I joined the Marine Corps, packed everything up and stored in my mothers basement. By the time I got out of the Marines I was married, and going to college, not much time to jack around with my car, but I still kept it in boxes in my own basement now. At one point I tried to get it going again, needed a new speed controller, I got what I could find, its a Druatrax M5 Megafet, not bad, but not as responsive as the old tekkin. Anyway seeing my neighbor out with that car got me going again. I pulled it out charged up a battery pack, and riffled through all the drawers in my kitchen looking for AA batteries for the old Magnum Jr. got it all ready and hit the street. This thing still runs like a bat out of hell!!! Damn this is still fun. Anyway the ride only lasted about 2-3 minutes, the battery is shot obviously after 20 some years of sitting around its seen better days. Well that got me thinking. I would love to restore it get it looking and running good again. So here I am, I found my new old hobby again!!! but I need help, any suggestions on where to start on rebuilding? Im going to get my camera out and take a few pics and post them in a min to let you see what I have to start with.

Wow- your story sounds similar to mine. Was in the hobby from 1985-1987 and then packed everything away while life took over.
I just got back in last year.
It looks like you have a nice original 10 there-- very similar to my runner.
There are lots of people here who can help-- just post up any questions and you'll get instantaneous results-- it's like RC10 tech support here.... without the outsourcing!
Welcome.. and thank you for the service to our country!

The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

I'm already feeling the addiction. And guess what I just realized. I have my brothers RC10 that he got the same Christmas I got mine. He was never really into the hobby so when it broke he quit, and I got it. Its been setting in another box for quite a few years. So, now I have two projects, I am however going to limit myself to finishing one before I start the other. Now Im really in trouble HA!

SurferDave said these things are addictive well they also breed like rabbits so better get some space cleared out for their cages. Oh and welcome to the board.
