I admire your persistence. You keep after it until it's perfect.
I'll give my paint jobs one shot and just live with all the imperfections. If I try to repair my mistakes, I always make them look worse.
The wheels and tires look amazing!!

Thanks so much! If I leave those mistakes on there, I can never enjoy the finished product, all I remember or can see when I look at it are the errors, and it will spoil the entire thing for me if I leave it that way. Not sure what the medical diagnosis for that is, but it's a lifelong condition .


Getting ready to spray the TS-26, it's a perfect day for painting out there.

Ran out of TS-26 white paint, thought one can would be enough, but didn't figure in my mistakes and do-over.

Can't peel this until I get more TS-26 to finish the weak lines, can still see a thin blue line.




Did get those drips removed.


Blue lines where the white didn't cover fully.


Just ordered another $80 in Tamiya paint, Thursday I should be able to finish the white. Have no choice but to leave it masked until then, don't know how bad things are under there atm.

It irritates me to no end how Tamiya cans only provide enough paint for one small vehicle. If you need to paint something larger or correct any mistakes, you'll need to buy a second can.
Def not a fan but sometimes it's the only way to find the right color.

I know it's just my poor paint prep and inexperience that caused this - I need to get good, but until then, it's going to cost me for the quality I'm looking to achieve, with the skills I have

The one tool that makes every project easier, and turn out better as a direct result, is a lighted magnifier headset - imo. It's the most used tool out of any I own, would buy another today if mine got lost or broken.

Ah HA, there's your problem! A "lighted magnifier headset".
Flaws don't exist if you can't see them so do yourself a favor and get rid of that thing.

the camera unfortunately is not as easily fooled.

Got a UPS notification today, about a delivery for tomorrow but didn't say what it was, hope the white paint for this project gets here a day early.

Re-painted the stripes, and one of the hood stripes still wasn't right. Had to mask it again, and will paint it today.




Going to have to mask this a third time, after this second one, in order to touch up some of the TS-10 French Blue spots.

Where I left off, was going to spray that single stripe in white.

The Tamiya TS-26 Pure White can that I received a couple weeks ago, looked different than every other normal Tamiya TS can I've bought, the lid had no TS-26 sticker, and the overwrapping was loose. When I opened that can, I barely bumped the nozzle and it fell off. When I sprayed that can, it had so much solvent in it, the ratio of solvent to paint was wrong, it made a drippy mess of the blue in spots. About to begin the fix.

Got the 'bad' TS-26 can replaced, and ordered from a different vendor this time. Again, this new TS-26 can looks weird, compared to every other TS and PS can I have. In this pic you can see it has no TS-26 label on the lid, and look how loose the wrapping is.

If this starts spitting solvent and runny inconsistent paint again, I'm going to lose it, will mask it like I've never masked before this time just in case. Hoping this isn't 'fake' somehow.



May leave these in the box, or paint them up and sell the others.


Will get back to this body now that I have all of the paint.

Also have a can and a half of TS-10 Blue, going to get this right, or scrape it off and start over.
