T2 TO T4 IMPRESSIONS

Post by FasterLouder »

Well,I finally retired my beloved T2 to the shelf.
Thanks to Mr. Joey King,I now have a T4 to run, instead.
I ran the T2 the day before running the T4...It really was like jumping in a time machine to 10 or so years into the future.
The T4 is more stable, has a lot more steering and puts the power to the ground better than the T2...But,I still love the way the T2 drives,a little less stable,a little bit of understeer, demanding your attention 100% of the time.
The T4 almost drives itself.
I've noticed with later model cars-the B4/T4/XXX CR etc -that they drive so nice, they're almost a little bit boring to drive.
Certainly as far as bashing goes.
How much better can race spec cars and trucks get?

My twisted plan for the T4 is to buy the new X Factory X-60 conversion and the JConcepts J82 conversion...And hopefully build a mid mounted J82!
I don't think anyone has tried this, yet.I'm sure I can make it work, though.
Please let me know what you think of this plan!

Hey Rick!
The J82 is a conversion from JConcepts that converts a T4 into a (roughly) 1/8th scale buggy.
The kit comes with a buggy body, buggy wheels etc.
Cool kit.

those j82 fronts are very similar to the narrow tires/rims that came in the 7001 10t kits. so, if you want a 10t w/ narrow rims and new rubber......................

hoopty ran them on his 10t at the v-nats, but ended up taking them of in favor of full size front. i don't remember the reason behind it, though.

Yeah I definately want to pick up set of those front tires to put on my 10T, since it came with a set of those narrow rims, and I always loved the way those narrow front rims an tires look.

On the topic of the X-60, does anyone know why it has a 4 gear transmission?

I was thinking of picking-up a T4 to turn it into an X-60 as well!

I have an X Factory X-6,the conversion for the B4 buggy.
When I first built it,it had the origonal 3 gear tranny.
I bought the 'Total Upgrade Package' last year.
It included a new,better chassis,a redesigned nose peice and,of course,the 4 gear tranny.
The 4 gear tranny mounts the motor on the right side of the car, instead of the left and uses an extra B4 idler gear.
The theory is that the inertia of the motor, well the centrifugal force of the motor, plants the rear end, instead of the middle of the car, with the 3 gear.Like a 1960's era sidewinder dragster.
Smoother tranny,too.

All you'd need to do to get them looking 100% correct is to drill three small holes and screw in some 4-40 screws for the three peice look.

The J82 front rims are just B4 wheels with the taller narrow truck sized front tires.

Faster, there is already some discussions on 2wdrc.com forums about an X-60/J82 marriage....

Glad you like it.
