I just clamped it between two pieces of wood in a vice, and the gently pulled back on it a little bit at a time ,then check it ,then move it up or down in the vice , and then bend it some more.y2kgtp wrote: Also, what method did you use to straighten out the chassis? Mine has a slight bow to it, and the front nose piece is tweaked as well.....
Thanks! I guess I do need to go out and get that bench vice finally....Chrominator wrote:I just clamped it between two pieces of wood in a vice, and the gently pulled back on it a little bit at a time ,then check it ,then move it up or down in the vice , and then bend it some more.y2kgtp wrote: Also, what method did you use to straighten out the chassis? you mean we get to drive them?MONSTER wrote:My Holey Chassis was quite tweaked, front and back. I actually put the SIDES of the Chassis in a Towel Covered Vise, and "straightened" each bend just a bit. I figured the Sides are basically the "braces/stiffeners" of the Chassis, so bending from this point, should cause the affect I wanted, AND, HOLD it there. When I got it where I wanted, I turned it bottom up, on some blocks resting on the "floor" of the Chassis, covered it with the Towel, and lightly (maybe a little more than tapped, but started lightly) tapped it all the way across from each bend, to the same bend on the other side. Its held up good so far, but I havent really put it through too much....yet. This STUPID Building Addiction is keeping me too busy to play with the damn things!!!!![]()
