Thanks. I might just pick up the Stealth kit. So far my 6-gear, with full bearings and carefully assembled with virtually all new parts, has been very good, but I'd love to shelf it that way rather than grenaded.
I'd like to echo twinrider1's sentiments as well. Unbelievable help and support here, with egos checked at the door and patience for n00bs (me) held high.
NickTheGreek wrote:If I was you,I'd buy the stealth kit while you have the chance to buy it whole, instead of trying to piece one together down the road which will cost more.
The one I found is $87.98
Is that about what they were? Seems like a lot, but if that's a fair price, I'll probably buy it.
Yeah, that's about right...I paid right around that.
I know there were a couple on ebay a few weeks back for something like 65....
I think they jacked up the prices once Tower labeled the kit discontinued...
I'm pretty sure Stormer Hobbies had them cheaper than the other big online retailers...They might still have a couple in stock.
Some times you get lucky.....I just found a bunch of stealth parts on ebay for pretty cheap ....
Normally, the slipper pads alone are like 7 bucks...It adds up.
Edit...stormer hobbies has them (probably pretty limited quantities) in stock for 70 bucks.
Nah, no issues at all.....
And personally, I like the case that comes with the kit (US version) better than the one that's readily available. (The one that comes with the worlds car)
.......
Me, being fairly new to rc and kit building, the stealth is so much easier to work on. I'm sure to the vets in here the 6 gear is as easy to work on as tying a pair of shoes, but the stealth is definitely way easier to put together and take apart.
$14.00 shipping to Canada from Stormer. Cheapest USPS shipping option available. And still cheaper than the other place I found, even though shipping from them was "free".
I currently have my ESC punch setting (forget the other name for it) dialled back to only a little over half and reverse on a triple input and only at 20% of full power. My 6-gear will be coming out in near perfect, if not perfect, condition. Only a few runs since being completely rebuilt.
Speaking of my ESC -- HobbyKing X-Car 120a -- (love it, btw. lots of customizable settings using the USB programmer), I finally stopped procrastinating prepping the new body I ordered along with this rebuild for paint and the fan on the ESC is substantially taller than the depth of the tub. Just a tidbit of info for anyone else reading along and using this thread for guidance. I could move it to the rear shock tower, I guess, but I like where it is for now so I trimmed a hole in the body and now it protrudes through. Love it or hate it, I personally think it looks pretty cool.
I updated my steering to bellcranks as I mentioned I was doing so here's a pic of that --
And I finally got around to finishing the trimming and then masking and painting the body. Took me forever to cut all of the individual masks for windows and roll bars but for my first attempt ever (my brother did our original with a brush when he was 8 haha) I'm pretty damn happy with the result. Doesn't compare to TheHive or Szac, but for the wrong scissors, rattle cans and green painters' tape I'm thrilled. Stickers next.
A couple notes: The large windows are not equal in size/shape left and right. This made it so I couldn't use the opposite outside as a template for the mask on the inside. Also, the window netting stickers aren't even close to either side so I had to trim them both a fair bit. They look okay, but if examined closely there are definite flaws. Also, doing the striping on the tail section is a PITA because of the curve it has to wrap around. Difficult to get it without creases and lining up each side so that the middle section matches perfectly on both is very difficult.

the Car Looks good as well.
Thanks. The primary species is Kentucky Bluegrass which is the most common turfgrass in Ontario and most of Canada. Mine just receives special attention and care. Neighbours have been seen bending down to touch it to see if it's real or artificial.

$1035.49 .......
I have it all in an Excel spreadsheet .......
LOL...
I just saw this......Earlier today I was thinking to myself about my recent rc spending and was thinking how it would've been nice to actually see all my individual purchases of the past few months (pretty much all rc10 related) and then add them up.....
Probably better that never came about or else I'm pretty sure I'd be looking at the final tally and feeling sick.
I currently have a copper rc10 that is if I had to guess at least 20 years old. Seems like I will need all new electronics to get it running, magnum junior battery cradle is shot, receiver seems to be picking up interference, im sure a new motor is...
Hi all. This is my original RC10T that I saved up for, and bought new when I was 12 years old. It was my first real RC vehicle. It is in relatively good shape, and has not been run since probably 1996. As a kid I...

That servo mount method is brilliant! Thanks for sharing that pic/thread!
I’ve had this thing since the middles 80’s from brand new. Not sure what I was thinking back then painting it the way I did  . Also, I remember battling with popping steering ball cups off every time I drove it, and had started my own teenage...

As was yours, that was my very 1st rc back in the mid 80's. Changed my life forever, (cost me a shitload of dow! Lol) but great fun.....anyway, wanted to say very nice restoration!!!🙂
Just wanted to share the recent body set i completed for my RC10 B6.4d. I had the idea to paint a similar livery as a homage the OG RC10 box art. Below are some photos of my original RC10 and the B6.

I am new here and I just am trying to learn how to start a conversation. This is a very nice rc10. I would sure like to have some nice paint work done like this I need some advice on the bet way to get some bodies painted up for some of my replicas...
I have this question, and it may have been asked before; did AE ever make the original tires for the kit, the RC10T team car that is shown on the box art and in the ads at the time (see pic).
Every rebuild of the original I see has...

found a set of fronts! minor damage to the front outside beads, but in overall good shape!
Stumbled across this web page, it's where Hirosaka senior sells off used r/c cars and parts.

What is a current tire (available) that will fit the original RC10, Fronts & Rears. I am restoring an RC10 and looking to put new tires on it. I am looking for something that is commonly available and don't cost a fortune.
Thanks
Joe
