I've been gone for a while, you've made progress!
Looking at your receipts makes me scared to think of what I've spent on r/c- and I've only been in the hobby for 3 and 1/2 years!
Keep in mind the charger and soldering iron are one-time expenses, and the batteries can be used on any other cars you get.
There are plenty of ways you could have done that cheaper- rebuilding the gearbox with old internals, for example- but I think the finished result is nice.
