Well this is a good idea but it's doubtful that it's ever going to happen. I don't think Eau Rouge has the time to plan or coordinate such a gathering plus the desire has probably passed, he's got home responsibilities now (new baby daughter) but I haven't talked to him about it so that's just my .02. I'm nearby and probably could help plan a get together but it would probably be a non-racing event. Not certain I have a real good picture in my mind what the gathering would consist of. Maybe you guys could throw out some ideas about what you'd like to see happen at this gathering. I could get Leisure Hours race track for private running but that would be on a Monday or Tuesday night only so I don't think that's an option. Eau's idea was to meet in a public park which was close to where the old JORROC series was held which was near Plainfield. I could try to get a weekend date set with the park district that would give us park access but I don't know what that would allow us to do except to maybe have a picnic and a sit around racing session plus maybe running your cars around in the grass or a parking lot but I don't know if we'd have the whole site or just a part of it with other people having picnic's and gatherings, etc. I'm not sure that appeals to me. If anybody has any ideas why don't you throw them up here and we'll see what we can make out of them. Do we want to try and have a Midwest Vintage Nationals Event, we'd have to attract a lot of racers to get Scott at Leisure Hours Racetrack to get interested or maybe there's some other track in the area (I guess I mean Northern Illinois). Anyone class anyone, step up and speak your mind.

How about let's start with a day of the week, Saturday or Sunday. It would be good to have an idea of which, Sat or Sun and which day will attract the most people. I'm thinking sometime in summer so we have time to coordinate everything.

That's what I'm trying to do, maybe if I just start getting this little bit of info first I can move onto step 2.

I'm going to check on the original place that Doug wanted to meet last fall. I'll go over to the park district office early next week and see if there's a date that's available also got another idea but that's maybe a little more tough but I'll see about that place next week but I don't want to say anything about that one yet.

Not really, don't have a place to gather that won't cost money to reserve and I just got sidetracked on other things.

I am very interested in doing some sort of vintage rc gathering. I live central Illinois. I used to run Glitchers' RC Raceway in Mahomet. I am now with the Monticello Model Masters in Monticello. Horizon Hobbies purchased 22 acres there with the idea of building an RC air field(which the club has done) and an off-road track. One of the other club members,( who is a Horizon employee ) and myself are heading up the track build. Let me discuss the idea with him and the club at this months meeting to see if we can get this done for next summer (2010). I think it's a fantastic idea !!! I am a huge gold tub fan and have many rc10s. I wiil let you know what happens after next Wednesdays meeting. Rick Wilson

I am thinking of a 1 day event in the early summer of 2010. We would have a RC swap meet, car show and the track open for fun racing. Maybe run some 5-10 lap grudge races between buddies, or manufacturers vehicles. Just have fun with our vintage cars and trucks. There is a hanger building going up this fall at the track area so we can go inside if it rains. Possibly get out a grill or 2 and cook up some hotdogs and burgers. I would like to see this event take off and step up to a 2 day event in the future years." Possible midwest vintage race". let me know what ya think. Rick

That is the plan, it would be great to get a nice turnout and have some fun with the vintage vehicles.
