I am digging a bit on the battery timeline, because I have wondered the same myself.

I have an early 1998 magazine with Trinity ads showing 1200SCRs and 1700SCEs available, which is accurate to my memory. I have a set of Trinity 1200SCRs here, but honestly don't remember when they came out. It's only a 6-cell pack, but it will have to do.

I think you mean 1988, right? If you need a used but nice 1200 SCR to make a 7 cell pack, I have one and your welcome to have it! It's not Trinity, just plain Sanyo, but it would still look nice.

Heheh, yeah, typo. I have been doing that a lot lately. Yup, my Trinity cells are unlabeled, which means they were probably some of Ernie's crap batteries for the day. I would definitely be interested in a spare 1200SCR cell, for sure.

D, I remember reading something on the Futaba web site and I found it....

Says "Most older Futaba radio systems use a "G" plug. It's called a G plug because, well, it looks kind of like a G, with a 90 degree hook at the exposed metal pins. These were replaced with J plugs in roughly 1991. The J plugs are just a straight down plug which has a small key on one end to keep you from accidentally plugging in your servos backward...."

I see that should probably be interpreted to say that J's were around earlier (Novaks and such), but maybe 1991 was when the G was finally totally out?

I think you are 100% correct with that one. I never could figure out why they made the change and did it so slowly. I'm trying to remember when we saw the first J plugs from Futaba, because they were VERY similar to the Kraft-style plugs. There was a point there where you had difficulty finding anything with the G plugs on it at all.
