So I practice painted a shell las night, and I think I might be confident enough to do the one in the picture, or I might just keep the practice shell!

Image

Not the best quality. I put two thin sprays of silver, then coated the rest blue. Silver pops with some blue in the light really well. Taping this thing is a horror show, and I give huge kudos to all of you painters on here with the superstar pain jobs. Going to take a long time of trying before I get to that level....

I'll try to get better pictures up later tonight (amongst other things, I have class tonight)

So I didn't like those shocks, and didn't want to mess with them anymore, so I took a set of 3Racing blue and silver shocks (like the ones I have on the Yokomo) and found that they are almost the exact same size as the original shocks. They are sold as Kyosho Lazer ZX-5 shocks
Image
and they look SO MUCH BETTER on the car than the other shocks. More like they belong. They also slam the tub down a little bit.

I'll try and get pictures up tonight. I have a MIP CVA rebuild kit coming to fix the CVA I busted the other day testing it out.

I cut the cover and put it on. Hindsight being 20/20, I wouldn't have cut it the way I did. I will post a picture of that as well. Just waiting on 2 more items from Fibre Lyte, and I can wrap this one up mechanical wise and work on the viper shell.

So here is where I am at. Besides the fine tuning of the front and back wheels, the MIP CVA rebuild kit, two items from Fibre Lyte and painting the Viper body, this baby is done.

Front with cover on. The front end looks a little low in these pictures, and the rear end a little high. I think if I move the front shocks in one hole, it will be good. The rear springs are a bit short, so it sits a little lower with the battery, making the stance a little more even. I will have to revisit that I think. However the stance isn't as aggressive as the other shocks.

I am having trouble adjusting the rear wheels, the turnbuckle is too long. I ordered some 1.125" turnbuckles. Should get them next week.

Sweet. I will post a complete build list this weekend. I know I did some things (probably a lot) differently that a few others on here...

Where did these come from? You are the only other person I have seen with something like this. I machined some for my buggy I recently built.

The car looks good.

They are actually just spacers, not milled mounts. I took those shocks off, they were way to big.

those mount/spacers you milled are pretty friggen sweet though!

Awesome build, I specially like the color combo that you're using....

One question though, are you using the GT rear hubs with B44 front CVDs??
Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what R/C car you're gonna get next!!!

B44 Rear CVA kit with 1.5 GT Rear Hubs. I still need to get my part list together and post it up. I was working on a PowerPoint for it before the computer I was using STB.

*I ended up only using the rear tower (RC10 03) from this purchase and will save the front one for the next build.*

The Kyosho shocks were an almost exact fit, with only the rears needing any adjustment.

Turnbuckles: It would have been easier to get them seperately:
ASC1405 x2
ASC1414 x1
Would have cost the same amount as the set of 6, and been the correct sizes.

So, I have a good amount of parts left over for another project, but this one is still not quite finished....

I pieced worked the crap out of this. I could have probably gotten 90% of this from Tower. Try to find as much as you can at one place to save on shipping. I don't even want to think about how much I spent on that.

The part numbers should help out a lot, but a few things you will have to get on eBay, as well as direct (Fibre-Lyte, Dynotech)

 you and the rest of us.

These post will help guys in the future to reduce the cost of shipping...IF they want to buy everything all at one time. I think most people spread the part collecting over a period of time, which gets you on shipping.

Oh yeah, another lesson learned:

Use some thread lock on the cva's if you are that guy who likes to see the wheels spin freely during a test. One of the pins flew right out and I had to buy a rebuild kit.....
