1. Is the bearing adapter supposed to be able to move back and forth a bit on the shaft?? The one near the spur gear I mean.
2. I'm installing bearings, not bushings, but either way the manual doesn't specify different sizes to be used but I believe I need to use a big one on the inside and a small one on the outside (in the bearing adapter that they recommend you cut a little notch to ease the installation of an E clip). Am I right?
I've assembled the whole thing and mounted it to the motor plate. There's really no variables, questionable steps or parts missing, so I'm not sure how it could be wrong.
There is still a little bit of wiggle in the spur gear now. Is that normal?

Thanks man.
I took a closer look at everything and there's really no room for error so I figured it had to be right. I also determined that the play is strictly the movement of the balls in the spur.

Will we be seeing you in Classic class at Vonats?
Thanks but unfortunately no. This is just for nostalgia for myself and fun for my little guys.
Any comments or information regarding the pinion gear I showed would be great. Would it be suitable for the motor I want? Even if 16 teeth is suitable, should I buy a modern one for the same reason I was advised to replace all the gears in my tranny (modern machining/tighter tolerances)?
I'd like this car to be reliable, fun and fast.... the latter not to inhibit the former and first.
Also any advice AGAINST a Hobbyking X-Car 120a ESC to control a Reedy Sonic 540 Mach 2 17.5T?
Is that pinion 48p?
If it is, it should make an okay starting point. My Rc10 6 gear is geared 23/76 or somethibg like that on 17.5, but I run 2.2" wheels. You can use that pinion, but you might end up wanting something in the mid 20s.
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

Yes I believe the spur is 48P. It's the OE stock replacement.
So with my 16 it will have more torque but less top-end than with a higher # pinion.....just like a bicycle?
Edit ---I think I'm mixing up terms. You're talking pitch right? Yes again though, the pinion should be 48p because we did run it back in the day with that motor it's attached to before I let the smoke out.
I'm strongly considering this ESC now for both this car and a Worlds ReRe I'm about to buy. Some of the reviews indicate it's the exact same unit as a HobbyWING Xerun 120a V2.1, which I was about to buy, but this unit is cheaper and will come from the US not Hong Kong.
In the bullet point write-up below however, it says it's compatible with Novak, LRP and Orion motors. Why would they specify that? Would it not work with a Reedy Sonic 540 Mach 2?
I currently have a copper rc10 that is if I had to guess at least 20 years old. Seems like I will need all new electronics to get it running, magnum junior battery cradle is shot, receiver seems to be picking up interference, im sure a new motor is...
Hi all. This is my original RC10T that I saved up for, and bought new when I was 12 years old. It was my first real RC vehicle. It is in relatively good shape, and has not been run since probably 1996. As a kid I...

That servo mount method is brilliant! Thanks for sharing that pic/thread!
I’ve had this thing since the middles 80’s from brand new. Not sure what I was thinking back then painting it the way I did  . Also, I remember battling with popping steering ball cups off every time I drove it, and had started my own teenage...

Just wanted to share the recent body set i completed for my RC10 B6.4d. I had the idea to paint a similar livery as a homage the OG RC10 box art. Below are some photos of my original RC10 and the B6.

I have this question, and it may have been asked before; did AE ever make the original tires for the kit, the RC10T team car that is shown on the box art and in the ads at the time (see pic).
Every rebuild of the original I see has...

What is a current tire (available) that will fit the original RC10, Fronts & Rears. I am restoring an RC10 and looking to put new tires on it. I am looking for something that is commonly available and don't cost a fortune.
Thanks
Joe
