Looks great Shodog, nice effort and the reward is beautiful!
Any reason why you are leaving the motorplate black? Maybe polish that too to match the other "chrome" looking parts...or you could paint it red to match the chassis!
After a lot of measuring I trimmed up the Andy's Renegade body and put it on the chassis. I found that It sat really high on the chassis. The Renegade is shaped quite differently than the protech the chassis was designed for.
The more I looked at the body I could see more of it needed to come off. I've trimmed most of the back off just leaving the scoop. I trimmed the nose a bit that allows the body to drop a bit. I added a thorp aluminum wing to compliment all the other aluminum parts. I like the way it looks but the cockpit and roof may still be coming off.
This is pretty clever. You've really thrown some love at this beast.
Can you talk about mounting the upper arm where you did in this picture? I think I know why, but I wanted to be sure I'm on the right base and to ask how you got the measurements right.
Instead of continually cutting that body down, you really should make your own. Fasten some aluminum panels on there, or whatever, and it'd look more like the real deal.

Yes. It's not in the block of holes like what I ran (of course the last time I touched those screws Reagan was in office).
:/ I figured out what it was... It's the holes to mount the shock tower to the bulkhead. I was in the office when I asked... Went over to the car to fire up a LiPo charge (outdoors while doing yard work) and looked for it. Before that, I was thinking, wow, how'd he engineer those to match and then put straight matching threaded holes in the aluminum without a shop. But, I pulled a derp...
Still, an impressive setup and I've picked up a few ideas along the way, even if I never get the urge to do the tube.

I share your opinions on this renegade body. I wish it wasn't the case as I love the paint job. Since I've already hacked the body, I'm going to try cutting the top off and see what it looks like. If I don't like it in the end, I have a new protech body I could paint up for it.
Hi everyone! Here's a tube chassis I've been tinkering on for quite some time. This one is actually a prototype, Serial Number 1. I have several of these chassis built with various changes to each one, but those haven't been photographed yet. I will...

Love the chassis build
have you considered releasing build sheets for the DIY peeps
finally got some pics of my build going and wanted to post them up here as i build them.
keep in mind this is just a prototype so forgive the crappy welds, they will clean up nicely anyway. i used 3/16 stainless tube (the coated stuff gives off...

thanks, im planning to make 10 or so, i actually scrapped the above chassis after completing more of it for a simpler design with less welds and more strength, got some advice from the crawler forum.
if i get enough steel to make more, i will make...
New to the forum and i posted some stuff about an aluminum tranny case (stealth style) that i machine and i got it taken off the forum. i wanted to say i apologize for that... now what i am doing is a complete tube frame and aluminum component part...

I've been patiently looking for a set to do a trophy girl replica car.
I wanted to make this better than just your standard slap together by using some parts that are vintage and other parts that are currently available. I've been collecting things here and there. A set of Dhawk aluminum parts including the...

6 years for an update.
Why did you ditch the Race Master bearing adapters in the tranny?
I stole those to use on my sprint car with a Rogue Elements gear case
This is a Clod I started building in the fall of 2018. I had been out of RC for about 20 yrs and decided to jump back in about a year & half ago with a tube chassis clod again. This one has taken a back burner a few times due to other projects....

Yeah, hated seeing my rcs collect dust in the basement. Already spending more than I wanted just to get them going.... just like old times! Haha
This Real Racing chassis was part of a trade deal as a parts car.The pic only showed the top half of it behind what i think is a late Edinger car RTR minus the transmitter. :( So i jumped on it and received it today, boy is this thing in sad shape !...

Guess i might be better off replacing alot of the tubes on this one for strength purposes i guess, and definitely reweld every G@#D@# joint on it. May as well add my own flair to this one lmao DON
Every where i make it straight the tube is getting...

Don't get too excited, he doesn't have any for sale and never made the B4 cage.
