Thanks Chuck.
The plastic spur and its pinion are molded together as a cluster gear. The problem I was having was with the pinion. That Reedy 3300kV motor makes a fair bit of torque - perhaps more torque than this gear was designed to accept. After only four packs, it was looking very ragged and I don't think it would have lasted much longer.
The re-re Ultima uses a metal pinion but it's 48 pitch while vintage Ultima gears are mod .8 (very close to 32 pitch) so the gears can't be mixed.
Apart from the nylon spur gear, all gears included with the re-re are metal so its transmission should be bullet proof. The downside is the increased weight and rotating mass that comes with those metal gears - it's a very heavy transmission.
i always liked the rpm ultra mold kits, but never had or raced one. I purely thought that they just look cool. I scored a broken rpm rc10t chassis on eBay and decided to trim it done and eliminate the broken aspect of it and make a long wheel base...

The ultra mold always seems like it was like hey can we make a rc10 to a pro-se and still call it a rc10
that's why the rear shock tower looks like that.
As some of you guys will remember I bought one of these chassis in error for my JRX2 ( I seem to be incapable of reading an Ebay description in full  )
My questions are these, will a Junior 2 shell fit it and if so will it also fit it with...
I have a RC10b3 project that I recently rebuilt and I bought the B3 body available from tower but its way too short for the chassis. I know when I bought the car the seller had mentioned something about a long wheel base and I know from the manual...

Hmm, I did not think about that. The buggy had some hop-ups and came with a Team car box. Now that I look into the parts catalog I see that the LWB chassis is listed as B2/B3/T3 Chassis, Long. So I guess that solves the mystery and explains why my...
How can we easily and for sure make difference between short and long wheel base C.A.T. ?
Chassis and plate are the only differences, or other parts are also differents ?
Can you please tell me if the one I have just bought is a short or long...

I believe yours is an XLS (based on widening spacers) as the XL is like the SWB with a longer chassis. Nothing wrong with leaving it as an XLS, have fun restoring it and so much easier locating parts than a SWB CAT.
So this is how it's ended up, a long wheel based Junior 2 bodied JRX2, it's a long way from perfect but I like it. The JRX2 was never a must have car (not being one I have previously owned) but how can I have a 2WD collection without one?

Zx and zxr are much better. Better platform and more stable and easier to drive than the mid. Also doubt the mid can handle the brushless unlike the zx and zxr. The zx slipper is better suited to the brushless system. Ive fitted a 5.5 in mine.
