My Mutant RC10 Semi Truck

Post by MonsterBeetleGuy »

Picked this up on ebay after no one bid on it. Total one off custom. Bought it because it's pretty unique. Pretty sure is an old 6 gear tranny on there. Front end might be Associated too. I'll know for sure when it gets here...Should be here next week...Will have more specs on it then...

Hey Brad,

i like your find from the bay. looks to be pretty vintage hardware on it. Nice find man. Will come back to the post and check out the specs after you get it in.

That's pretty cool. I've never seen something like that. I wonder if that speaker is a RAM sound kit. Looks like the front end might be off of an old RC10L.

Thats what I was thinking Mel. I never owned one so I can't say for sure. Looking forward to getting it. I like the odd stuff. Nothing like a one-off. I'm hoping all the gear in it works.

Well it came in the other day. Pretty cool looking...Body is pretty! Sound unit sounds like crap so it'll prolly come off or just might put it on the shelf. Thought about putting ESC in it and running. Dunno yet. Should have some new pics this weekend

It's amazing the things people will build with some aluminum sheet and too much time on their hands. ;)

The front end looks like an RC10L upside-down. (mounted to the underside of the chassis instead of on top) Am I right?

That poor ol' 6-gear looks kinda confused. "What am I doing here? I should be in a buggy!!"

Interesting purchase. Not my thing but hey...
Just out of curiousity: Do both rear axles drive?

yeah it is amazing what people will do with too much time on my hands. I do believe you are right about the 10L front end. I've yet to run it yet. Only the front rear axle is driven but I dont think it would take much to make the rear as well. Just dont think I'm gonna tackle it. Makes a good conversation piece. I should have some better pics tomorrow to post.

I traded it to my good buddy Jeff last year and worked a way to get it back recently. It's a one off custom build that I got off Ebay dirt cheap I think. It features an RC10 tranny hooked to and straight axle via a chain drive. The front end is a flipped pan car front end pieces. It also has a engine sound unit and a horn. They sound rather cheesy though but I'm guessing it was probably made at least 15 years ago if not more judging by the vintage parts.
