Hi Alex,
still haven't got an engine yet lol been a bit busy. sorry I don't know technical names of parts but im concerned that where the clutch is the thread on the old engine is very different to any engine I have looked at the old leo 12 has a thread along the whole thing whereas the engines ive been looking at only have part thread, I was hoping to use the clutch and the other parts on the new engine, generaly do you think they would fit?
regards

Oli,

I see what you mean, I found a few of the Schumacher Engine Installation Sets in my spares pile, two for the ASP/CS 12 PS, and one for the XR15/OPS15/MEGA15.... not one for the Leo 12, unfortunately. In the instructions, they talk about removing the original clutch, and putting on a combo of cone washers and flywheels.... the cone seems to go over the part of the engine output shaft that does not have a thread on it.

I then found (don't ask how) my unused Leo 12 motor, and I see what you mean, it does have thread all the way to the bearing, unlike the other motors Schumacher show in the instructions. This to me means you have two options: Find a Leo 12 to replace your old one, or adapt one of Schumacher's installation set kits to match the engine you buy.

Let me know if that helps..... I'm no expert on nitro motors (I'd like to know more about them, I have heaps of nitro cars to rebuild), but I'm happy to help with the information I can pass on.

Oli,

From the 1996 Schumacher catalogue, this is an exploded view of a Leo 12.

My own Leo 12 looks like this:

As for the one-way bearing, the pullstart packs do NOT come with one... that's a separate part, U1648F (from the diagram). Don't seem to have any of those, sorry.

Have you considered a Radial engine. That will get you from A-B:)
