Losi JRX Pro Build

Post by Lavigna »

This is my first JRX Pro build. I hope to make it a special car, however it won't exactly follow strict timeline rules. I want to build it up using era correct parts, without staying within the confines of just the Pro model.

I am a big fan of the JRX Pro. I think it is one of the best looking cars ever made. I also love the shape and material of the chassis.

This chassis is absolutely pristine. It is also the only one I have noticed to come without the 4 outer holes for the 5 link mounts. Can anyone shed light on what this means?

I am still hoping to find the following parts for this build:

- Litespeed motor plate
- MIP transmission
- small front bumper
- body

Does anyone know if the white fiberglass towers can be dyed black? I don't think the yellow/white color will go well with this build.

I think they will accept dye or you could just have Jeff cut you a set of black towers.

The donor car came with these nice Technacraft ti rods and these white/yellow ball cups (they aren't quite as yellow in person). Does anyone know what ballcups these are? I can't place them.

I have done more searching, and I have not found another chassis WITHOUT the 5-link holes along the side of the chassis. Has anyone seen another chassis like this?

I agree with how awesome the JRX-Pro looks...The giant front shocks just demand attention! It was my first real race car back in the day and I am currently building one up too.

Those A&L shock towers are available in graphite for $20 at their ebay store, I prefer the look of the stock towers though. What are the blue shock cartridges? The white rod ends still look like the Losi style..I know they molded some things in white, like the front bulkhead..maybe they did some rods ends too? I think that is a Composite Craft chassis that probably had an upper deck too.

Looking good so far!

To confirm what the guys above have said - Composite Craft

But your chassis flares out, running change or Pro vs Pro SE?

Thanks guys! Definitely a Composite Craft chassis. I compared it to my RC10T Composite Craft chassis to confirm. They make such nice stuff.

This chassis is so pristine and looks great in person. I love how it doesn't have the outer holes. Gives a cleaner look.

RC10resto - I believe the difference in shape is just because mine is a Pro and yours is a Pro SE. The stock SE has a thinner chassis. Beautiful chassis you have. Thanks for the pictures.

More parts are trickling in. I also need to find a RPM rear hinge pin block. Please let me know if you have one.

I went to mount the JG front body mount to the RPM front bulkhead, but the screw spacing doesn't line up. To make it work I am thinking of making a new cross member from CF to replace the JG fiberglass. Then I can just drill the holes to the RPM width.

I made a new brace from some scrap CF sheet, to hold the body mount. The black color should actually fit better with the overall look of the car (stealth).

I love the look of the gold hinge pins.

Progressing. I decided to put on a hydradrive. I'm not concerned about staying true to any particular vintage. I am just building it how I like it.

I polished up the rear axles and they came out decent. I added the MIP outdrives so I can run dogbones. I hope the spacing is correct.

A big thank you to Jeff Malar from A&L for the great towers and beautiful dressing washers. Hardware and washers are details that can really set a build apart. A&L have the nicest washers available.

My Janday Conure named HunnyBee did a quick pose next to the transmission. I have had her nearly 22 years. She is a sweetheart and goes all around with us.

1 - Thanks so much!
2 - Takes a lot of work. I sand them smooth and then polish with finer grits.
3 - Thanks!
4 - Agreed

I decided to use this RPM steering kit. I kept the JG brace because I think it looks cool. I couldn't resist opening up this new mint steering arm. I like the deeper color. Almost like a dark purple.

I hope to find a Litespeed motor plate and MIP transmission for this buggy. Until then I am building it with the stock units.

I am very excited to have just won this Technacraft Ti rod set. I love the look of the grey rod ends.

I still need
- grey thin shock collars x 2
- JG front mini bumper
- RPM rear hinge pin block
