Got a suggestion from a buddy who had run a Lazer on that track before with velvet shocks. He had run 600cst front and 400cst rear.
Would that be something that might work for my case as well?

Re: When did Kyosho switch from 0.8mod pinion/spur to 48p?
Ah, so my findings that I mentioned in the original post were correct! :) Going back to the W-0110 spur, can that be used on a regular Turbo Optima? The inner part of that spur was still 0.8 mod right? Also, what Option House Hard Pinions were available in 0.8 mod that would work with a regular spur...

You're correct! I realised this shortly after I made the post!
But what about the pinions and spurs on the Mids? What pitch were they?

Re: When did Kyosho switch from 0.8mod pinion/spur to 48p?
So then the Hard Pinions listed as options in the manual, W-5085 to W-5095, are also 48p then?

Re: When did Kyosho switch from 0.8mod pinion/spur to 48p?
So was W-0110 stock on the Ultima Pro? When reading the manual I saw it mentioned but thought it was an option as it listed UM-1 with all the regular gears as well. Actually haven't opened the gearbox on my Pro yet and looked at the spur gear. Always thought it was the same as the Optimas throughout...

When did Kyosho switch from 0.8mod pinion/spur to 48p?
As the subject says I'm looking for insight into when and on which buggy model Kyosho first used 48p gears and which model was the last to use 0.8 mod? My own research by looking through manuals would indicate it was on the Triumph with the TM-7 spur gear, which was also an option for the Lazer ZX-R...

Re: Kyosho Optima: keep it vintage or upgrade?
JC racing products from the UK has 2,2" pepper pot rims. And with the re-release of the Turbo optima, Kyosho know offers pepper pots in the original 2" size. And you also have the regular Optima re-release rims and tires. If you want tires that look exactly like the old OT-30 Sand Supers ...

Re: Kyosho Optima: keep it vintage or upgrade?
I would get a Hobbywing 1060 ESC so you can run LiPo but still use vintage or newer brushed motors. Also get the repro Gold shocks from Xtra Speed at rcmart.com. Check diffs and gears for wear and replace whatever looks too worn. Parts can easily be found on Ebay or in FB groups like "Kyosho Op...

Both of those look great! Very nice job on the restorations!
Any chance you took some pics of the Optima body before you put on the decals?

Re: Kyosho Assault Box Art Restoration
Beautiful restorations!! :D I remember looking at the pics of Assaults back when they were released and longing for one as the Scorpion I had was sooo slow (had no knowledge of batteries and motors back then...). Even made up a complete list of parts I would need to convert my Scorp into an Assault!...

Re: Spoiler mounting on a Tomahawk re-re?
For as long as possible I was trying to figure out a way to retain the exhausts as well but in the end just said, screw it!
Also had to cut a lot more than planned for the rear shocks as I'm using the carbon LWB kit.

Re: Optima boxart pics
Got those already!
I've seen pics when doing a Google image search that links back to RC10talk so I was thinking there might be members here that might have high res pics of their painted bodies before putting on the decals on that they wouldn't mind sharing with me!

Re: Spoiler mounting on a Tomahawk re-re?
Here's a few pics of my re-re Tomahawk with a pretty large lexan-wing mounted with the Turbo Scorpion wingmount. Tried to get pics showing how I cut up the rear of the body to enable quick and easy removal. This is a car I race with and the body is still very secure when driving it! https://live.sta...
