Re: tools fer cheatin!
Thanks for the reminder: after polishing the bushings on a stock motor, we always ran ATF fluid for lube. ATF is designed to remove heat and lubricate so the bushings wouldn't heat up and expand (as much...or so the theory goes). As for bearings, remove 1 shield and clean out grease with alcohol or ...

Re: The Passing of an RC Legend
If i9t wasn't for John, off road most likely wouldn't have become what it did. The Tamiya RR and SS had two TERRIBLE problems: the white plastic front spindles and no diff, both corrected by John. Great guy, always had time to talk to a young kid even as he worked in his shop. First time I ever ran ...

Re: A LITTLE MORE LOSI HISTORY
Resurrecting a post from the dead! Del Mar came after The Ranch...Colton Ranch Skateboard Park. Allen skated and Gil bought an RC car. They actually had a track that they built next to the park (both are LONG gone now). As I recall, people were complaining about the noise and the Losi's were kind of...

Re: tools fer cheatin!
Sorry I'm late to the party. Back in the day, this wasn't called cheating, just an exaggeration of the rules. Almost everyone who raced knew about how to work the motors and some of the stuff listed wasn't ever illegal...it was what you did to go fast(er). Original silver cans: Break in the motor ru...

Re: Novak 1 Speed Control
Heat sinks were an optional part - not needed for 12th scale but needed for 10th off road. Two (black) heat sinks - one longer one for most of the FETs, a smaller one for the single brake FET on the right.

Re: vintage Astro Flight 4005A rapid charger
As I recall (and this is from memory), the A was the DC version of the charger, the B was the AC/DC version. I actually went to Astro Flight and bought my first real charger from the factory - a 4005A since I couldn't afford a AC/DC charger being 19 and in college at the time. The charge switch was ...
