Re: Kyosho 30635 - Fantom EP-4WD

Hey Mate, just a note to say i really like your color scheme on the plasma, very nice, and thanks for the detailed build too. People take a long time and a lot of effort to post these like you have, and often they are not appreciated. Yours was, im now ordering one, even though ive been off road 1/1...

Re: Barn find Rocky, belt drive conversion

Planning to fit these 5.8mm alloy pivot balls too. From some drift car I think, "Slidelogy SDY-0187" I've used them on the turnbuckles in other places on the rocky, really tightened things up, and very low profile. I will try a few other pivot balls first, but the clearance is tiny under t...

Re: Barn find Rocky, belt drive conversion

While i was there i replaced the aluminum post, which is 6.4mm o/d to 3mm i/d. Found these flanged bearings that I bought to make belt tensioners out of, 6mm o/d, x 3mm i/d x 3mm deep (1mm lip) I had some precision stainless tube left over from the drive gear sleeves and cut a spacer to suit. Ball r...

Re: Barn find Rocky, belt drive conversion

Started playing around with the steering bell crank, these are notoriously weak and a terrible design from the factory, Tried all sorts of options but in the end settled for a more beefed up unit from shapeways. It was just too difficult to get the dog leg angle and throw range correct. As you can s...

Re: Team Losi XX Motor Guard Re-Finishing

I gently sandblasted mine as there were very deep scratches, came up nice and uniform, and matt finish, clear coat on top.
it suited one of my cars anyway.
Good luck

Re: $10 cost hornet challenge

Id love to say it was a pleasure to drive but hey, its a Hornet. While it may be responsible for getting heaps of people into the hobby, it still handles like a.....Hornet. The rock climbing shocks on the front may be oil filled and pretty, but i think the stock springs were better. The Back is less...

Re: $10 cost hornet challenge

A few weeks ago i scored a tamiya touring car thrown in with a hot bodies 4wd i purchased, thought the LRP speed control was a good fit, and the price was right, i also had the old LRP receiver in my box from years back, its pretty rough condition, but zero cost so.. The aerial mount was anodized pu...

Re: $10 cost hornet challenge

Had to go back to the tamiya steering system, anything aftermarket fouled on the chassis, set up a left over lundsford tie rod for the front shock towers to stop them flexing, and there is still melted chassis where i couldn't scrape it clean from its previous life.

Re: $10 cost hornet challenge

Well finally got the challenge finished off, Turns out the alerion servo was a good fit as the shorty Lipo sits close to it when fitted. Sorted some of those 4mm 90 deg connectors and came out all right. Couple of foam spacers hold it firm. You can also see the self tapping stainless cap screws i re...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

Tamiya TB02 alloy parts. This was a freebie from another deal but i really liked its stance, Pretty old car now, about 8 or 10 years i think, but was the basis for the EVO series. Accidentally stumbled across a hobby shop with "closeout" deals on the alloy parts, guess as they are so old n...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???

Losi JRX Pro shock parts. Finally received the LOSA5015 shock cartridges for my long silver shocks, apparently they will fit in the old shocks according to the gurus here. Got some new LOSA5023 Shock clamps and cups while i was at it for the project, its suddenly blown out, waiting for a Carbon chas...
