1988 Tamiya Monster Beetle restored. The only thing not from 1988 is the ESC, three body mounts, and the battery.

New ESC and body mounts. Ran great, never was a great off-Road er but it’s fun to drive. It’s from 1988.

Nice to see a beetle running. My cousin gave me his 1988 Beetle a few weeks ago. Was in OK shape, not running. I tore it down to the frame, Cleaned and replaced some wrong screws. Looking good. The front end feels probably stiffer because of the stabilizer. If you compress one side, the other one should feel smoother. Otherwise the bar torsion is resisting. Got around to cleaning up wiring. Much cleaner with zip ties. The front end is very stiff, not sure if that’s right. Rear end is perfect.

First road test, brushed motor is plenty fast. Tracks well too. Need to clean up the wires under the hood.
