Track runner Sand Scorcher 2010
I built a Sand Scorcher (2010 re-release) for a vintage class race on a clay track, with the following modifications: - Kamtec lexan body & black ABS mechanism box - 12 mm hex adapters for modern wheels - Softer DIY 2 mm brass torsion bars - Tamiya 53574 O-rings for shocks - Pargu aluminium bump...

Re: RC10 (alive again) - Rebuilding original gold shocks
For the cap seal I've used 13 mm OD 1mm thick O-ring. When tightening you first need to smear the o-ring with shock oil and not to overtight. For the bottom seals I used Traxxas 2362 kit. These were the shocks of my 1986 car, and I ran a full day race with the car in 2021 and shocks didn't leak (40 ...

Cool car, RcFinland! Are you aware that we have a vintage racing series this summer in Finland? Today is the last day to register for the first race.

Re: Resurrecting my Houge RC10
If you are going to run this car you should try to find 1.02" rear shocks. Otherwise there is a risk of breaking an arm e.g. when landing from a jump. Another option could be to use a taller shock mount like with A&L arms.

Proline Champion 1010 or 109-R looks close.

Do you know the part # for the Thorp axle? I've only seen their front stub axles (#4705).

There was CVA kit #6369, but that is equally (or even more) difficult to find these days.

Re: Getting my old RC10 to run on grass (or how to best raise the ride height?)
The stock spur gear is 54t and it's the biggest one you can fit under the gear cover, and 9t pinion is the smallest you can use. So that combination will set the limit. 15t is definitely too big, even for a stock motor.

Re: Getting my old RC10 to run on grass (or how to best raise the ride height?)
Are those paddle tyres good on grass? For front wheels, rather than maximizing the tyre diameter or ride height, try to search ones with proper pin spikes. I'm using some old 2" wheels and tyres (Schumacher CAT?) from 1980s, and the gold pan moves fine with a normal setup even on a bit longer g...

Re: Best source of parts!
If you manage to find some local hobby shop selling Thunder Tiger stuff you might find some hard-to-find RC10 classic re-release parts such as CVA axles or 6-gear idler gears still from the shelves with fairly cheap prices. If they are searchable by Google or in Ebay then you are out of luck. :) I t...

Re: What did I destroy this time?
One of the first and best tuning parts in the 1980s for RC10 I got was Team Losi aluminium bellcrank. It shipped with steel axles (or is it a "post"?, forgive my english) for bearings, and also with steel 8-32 screws to bolt those on. Then you had to get some bearings/oilities (same size a...

Re: RC10T Team build from parts bin
Question - did Associated change the length of the 6223 king pins at some point? I have some that I think go with the newer style front ends (that use a set screw in the spindle) that seem to be a couple of millimeters too long. I remember the ones on the original cars being just the right length. ...
