Re: Acetone/adhesive remover on polycarbonate is a no no

If I remember correctly (not 100 percent sure), I have used 91 percent isopropyl and it works without issue. I also use it on Kyosho FRP (fiber glass). It did *not* haze/craze and can even gently remove thread lock. The optima mids are famous for having tons of thread lock glopped onto the lexan bel...

Re: Source Nix91 "Replica" Parts Without Shapeways??

I understand that people would be hesitant to give out their design files; it's natural. I think there is also a bit of a cultural thing influencing it, I mean tech culture. In the world of open source software people spend tons of time writing code and make it available for open usage, even in man...

Re: Source Nix91 "Replica" Parts Without Shapeways??

well, it might be there already on i.materialise.Com... https://i.materialise.com/fr/shop/designer/nixconcepts Right, thanks for pointing it out. I have seen that set of parts, but they are the "race" parts which Niki also offered for those that want to drive the buggy and avoid breaking ...

Re: Source Nix91 "Replica" Parts Without Shapeways??

Hi Doug, Much appreciated for sharing your good experiences about iMaterialise. I am glad to know this and it gives me some encouragement. Only issue is that Niki only put the "racer" parts up. Hoping he will add the replicas. iMaterialise are charging about $23 for UPS shipping to Arizona...

Source Nix91 "Replica" Parts Without Shapeways??

Hi Everyone, I am a longtime reader/user of rc10talk but not really actively contributing. I would really appreciate your advice. Back in 2019 I purchased the Nix91 carbon kit from Jake (Seabass) as well as all the metal parts (hingepins, turnbuckles) from Lunsford (before they disappeared). I never...

Re: Dye Kyosho Rerelease (re-re) White Wheels

I agree with that, XLR8. I have not read any downside to boiling either (except for the extra work involved), and absolutely true that nylon loves water. That was also why I contacted Kyosho about the wheels to make sure they would not melt or deform if dyed. Since they are confirmed as nylon, it sh...

Re: Dye Kyosho Rerelease (re-re) White Wheels

Thanks for this - I didn't know about the re-soaking in water so I'll be sure to do that next time. Picked up some more peroxide today :) You are welcome. Glad it was helpful! By the way, I have read that some people even go as far as to gently boil the whitened parts to remove the peroxide, but I ...

Re: Dye Kyosho Rerelease (re-re) White Wheels

Hi - I haven't tried to dye wheels but I'd be really interested in the outcome. As coincidence would have it, I was only looking at a spare set of Optima Mid wheels this morning and wondering how I could re-colour them! I have cracked how to re-whiten wheels that have yellowed over time, but not re...
