Re: What's the best R/C car name ever?

Not even close: Tamiya Avante #1 and then #2 has to be Tamiya Vanquish (before there were legal complications with Aston Martin??? But that is weird because the Tamiya Vanquish came out in 1988 with the Aston Martin coming out in 2001).

Re: Front Wheel Drive Buggy Discussion

Thank you for all the interesting posts and pics. This buggy-based Tamiya FF03 from Japan was a promising project.

Front Wheel Drive Buggy Discussion

Front Wheel drive buggies continue to fascinate me. It is a hard and challenging project. I love the rare instances where RC hobbyists give their go at creating a decent FF buggy. What is the most promising design so far? After the 1988 Kyosho Maxxum FF, has there ever been another front wheel drive...

Reimagining Hotels for Children

I was told about Grand Mercure outside of Tokyo, and it turned out to be a good destination for parents with kids. This was once a Conference hotel (not sure who would come out of town to come here) converted to be kid friendly place. Middle of the forest, hot spring baths, decent buffet, and then e...

Re: Let’s Build the RC10Talk Community’s Own 1/10 Buggy Kit!

I agree with all the points made above actually. It is hard, it's been done (to some degree), and not practical. I will add my own concern about our ability to vote and agree on our shared vision or engineering wish list. 2WD buggy seems like the right place to start with a hypothetical TC10 (Talk's...

Let’s Build the RC10Talk Community’s Own 1/10 Buggy Kit!

How about designing an RC10Talk-inspired Buggy Kit? Hey everyone. I’ve been thinking—with all the talent, creativity, and deep RC knowledge we’ve got here on RC10Talk, what if we came together to design our own 1/10 scale buggy? A true community-built RC kit, developed by enthusiasts, for enthusiast...

What RC Tech has advanced the slowest (and remains relatively pricey)?

This is a two-part question. What RC tech has advanced the least in recent decades? Also, relatedly, what tech has not gone down in price much? For example, the Spektrum DX3, was released in May 2005 the first RC 2.4 GHz pistoal radio as I understand. I'm confused why basic 2.5 Ghz radios with dual ...

Kyosho Ultima 1987 2WD World Champion Car - Vintage World Specification

This is a vintage 1987 Kyosho Ultima loaded with all the popular upgrades from the 1980s. Getting a fully vintage modified Kyosho Ultima in pristine condition was a rare find. Consider this an authentic "World Spec" Ultima driven by Kyosho drivers (aside from the Optima body and wing) at t...

Re: Predictions for the RC hobby in 2035

Vintage pan cars come roaring back to life in popularity.....rere's, vintage races, etc.....and my kids make a mint selling off my stuff, to cover my funeral, the open bar tab at the wake and a 70's rock cover band. 20241212_151927.jpg Did you solder those SCR batteries? That is amazing skill...

Predictions for the RC hobby in 2035

Big changes are on the horizon with AI and robots becoming part of our world. Some experts say we won't recognize the world we live in ten years from now. Focusing on the RC hobby, what do you predict in 2035? Three random predictions: 1) Vintage RC will increase in value (people will want the authe...

Re: My top RC racing achievement of my youth @ 1990 ROAR Nationals

I have to confess there were less than five buggies in the F Main (crap might have been three but you all don't know) So a third place finish was a mighty achievement. I recall buying the exact pin tires Cliff Lett used at the local hobby shop...believing I could. The belief / irrational confidence ...

My top RC racing achievement of my youth @ 1990 ROAR Nationals

So the last official RC race I ever participated in was at the ROAR Nationals in 1990 at the Hobby Haven Livermore Raceway in CA. I was in 6th grade, my brother drove me to the event. I wanted to be contrarian and got an ass kicking racing my Tamiya Egress. I disliked the fact everyone had an RC10 a...

Re: Unboxing a Legend: Schumacher XLS Cat 1987 4WD World Champion Original Replica

Do you have "blank" 3 mm steering rods and rear track rods turnbuckles or are they hex ones? Would be interesting to know. I bought my XLS kit as soon as it was available spring '88, and it had the blank ones. Hello! Do you have pictures of what you have (or what you are referring to)? Wo...
