Re: RIP to another legend, Jay Kimbrough

Bummer to hear the news, Jay was always in attendance at the larger west coast races and just a nice, fun and approachable guy...rest in peace...

Re: The BMX (and other bikes) thread

Just curious, I have heard mention that a 24" feels more like a 20" when you're an adult. Any opinions on the matter besides "That's what she said." jokes? I'm not real happy with my 26" that I hardly ever *pull out. *See second sentence... I had old school early 80s 24&quo...

I figured it was a Booker paint job but wasn't totally sure and didn't see his signature on it like I had seen on others...and the DW designs body looks perfect!

Re: A&L Custom Team Truck #4 of 5 or 6

Amazing truck and beautifully painted body. I wish I could take credit for the paint but it was a spare body Daryl had and was never installed. Not sure who painted it, Chris may know. Adam Lane, Daryl's son, recently had a body painted to match and it looks great. Here is an early pic probably for...

Re: A&L Custom Team Truck #4 of 5 or 6

Has anyone ever told you your A&L truck is an expensive bit of kit for us starving wannabe racers? But it sure looks cool ! :P :P :P One of... if not the most... epic truck for sure. 👍👍 When I first saw the A&L trailing arm upgrade, I was racing off road cars out in the deserts of baja and ...

A&L Custom Team Truck #4 of 5 or 6

Hi all...adding this here because there are others already posted in this section...Daryl Lane gave this truck to me, his last personal truck, a few weeks before he passed in 2021. As such, I can see his touches throughout and it took me some time to get to working on it. As it currently sits, there...

Re: The Lives and Deaths of RC Companies

Racing existed as a marketing and attention grabbing tool and has been forgotten by the current mega owners, most of whom did not grow up as R/C boomed. The first time I saw affordable, relatable R/C racing was at the Score off road show at the Anaheim Convention Center. My dad brought me to the sho...

Re: RC10L T-Plate options help me understand

I think you should run the softest t-bar on the street that you can find as traction on the street is generally always lacking. If you start picking up the inside front wheel or have too much rear traction then start to look at going to a stiffer t-bar Agree, I raced my 10l a few times on parking l...

Re: 2023 IFMAR 1:10 Off-Road Race thoughts?

The R/C hobby has a long history to look back on of how tires can destroy racing. I have been through a couple of tire wars that all but killed the classes and in my opinion, open tire rules do not work for anybody.

Re: What was your first RC experience?

That is what I love about the original Tamiya Mountaineer/hilux, all metal, almost IRL scale realism. It wasn't the halfassed plastic crap of today. I bought one at a garage sale, but, unfortunately, it was at the end of my RC time, so I sold it off with the rest of my gear. :( :x My buddy bought o...

Re: What was your first RC experience?

Previously I posted my first intro to R/C cars but it was so expensive that it was almost mythical. About ten years later, a more realistic event occurred that set my path... In the late 70s or early 80s, my dad took me and some friends to the Score Show, a car show/trade show for off road enthusias...
