Re: Optima Pro

I hope! I guess I do too. The Falcon was my 1st ride... It's not like us vintage R/C nerds buy these things to turn a profit; maybe it's just nice to know some of the boxes in my closet are valuable... and also a little annoying that Kyosho seems to be choosing exactly the ones I have originals for...

Re: Optima Pro

Of course... if I were going to sell it, I'd have done so long before now. I've had it 20 years already. It's just something that's happened to me already a couple of times, where the most "valuable" ones get re-released..and the choices have been surprising. Who would have thunk they'd ha...

Re: Optima Pro

Glad to know this prize of my collection is now worth about 75% less today...never would have expected this to be the one to reissue. Though I suppose the fact that I can now buy one to be a runner is a silver lining. So far the only place to preorder is HK with an $85 shipping charge for USA.

Re: College Theme Paint Job

I have emailed a couple of painters recommended to me & one was too busy, and the others didn't respond! Reminds me of every contractor I try to hire to do work on my place. Anyone have a referral for a good painter who can do something like this? Though really most of the bodies I need painting...

College Theme Paint Job

Anyone know of an example of a body painted in a university style theme? I was looking for some inspiration for a couple of bodies I need to paint (or more accurately, pay someone else to paint because I suck at it)... As an Arizona State Sun Devil, we have one of the coolest mascots in "Sparky...

TLU-01 Lighting Setup & Power Adapter

Anyone know which connector I need to have this lighting kit powered by my receiver (and where to get one)? I think I need a female molex to Futaba female connector. I need to have it on the 3rd channel of my radio because it is just impossible to reach the power switch under the body & all of t...

Re: New/Old Ultima PRO XL

There are some Ultima PRO XL for sale but they are either very expensive or in bad shape. Found a old Ultima 2 on Ebay that I am going to use as a donor car for the parts that is missing. I do not know in which direction this build will take, but I will post pictures along the build. These are the ...

Re: What your workstation looks like?

What about some butcher board and wall brackets? I hung these separate for 2 kids but they could be joined. Pick your height. I looked at a few like that, and while I love the idea of the floor space saved, I'd rather have a larger tabletop ... that 5th scale truck is a monster, and I already drop ...

Re: What your workstation looks like?

Forgive me if I've already posted about this somewhere ... search came up empty. It's something I've been struggling with for a while, but now there's a deadline. I'm getting some new carpet installed, and one of the legs on my workbench is almost guaranteed to break when moved. I need to replace it...

Re: OPTIMA MID '87 WC Worlds Spec Ltd Ed.

The "reinforced slipper clutch to support brushless motors " is basically stating it has a slipper. Kyosho makes different slipper pads for different setups, unfortunately Kyosho doesn't say which pad works best in which conditions. The standard slipper pads are good for brushed motors an...

Re: OPTIMA MID '87 WC Worlds Spec Ltd Ed.

Yeah, I can see the sides to that argument... I myself am guilty of buying the fancy LeMans 240 & 480S motor combo for my Fantom re-re in large part because it looks awesome .. but the Optima Mid I'm about to build ... while I'm not going to compete, I do intend to log as much track time as I ca...

Re: OPTIMA MID '87 WC Worlds Spec Ltd Ed.

Back to the OT ... I did finally break down and order one of these out of major FOMO caused by having to overpay for the 60th anniversary gold Fantom I just had to have. I was wondering what y'all thought about motors. Interesting that Kyosho recommends a "brushed" motor, with most other r...

Re: OPTIMA MID '87 WC Worlds Spec Ltd Ed.

I don't really like this one, but now this body is re-released, I hope Kyosho will make an Optima Pro re-re, maybe the next year, as I hope they will make an Ultima Pro XL re-re based on the parts used for the J.J. edition :) Bite your tongue! I'm a huge fan of Kyosho's re-releases...but the Optima...

I definitely got this one with my Plazma back in the day. I just pulled it out to post up on eBay actually...still in pretty good shape.

"Modern" Brushless Motor with Vintage 1/12

Anyone tried to put a 'modern' brushless motor in a vintage pan car, like the Kyosho Plazma MKIII? I don't see a whole lot of difference in the new Fantom re-re transmission from the original, whereas a lot of the updated vintage models are tweaked in this regard to handle brushless power. For exam...
