Re: two Le Mans 480 Gold motors - build-up choice...?

Swap gold endbell to ultrahive motor That's exactly what I would've done. The motor with the Ultrahive sticker is the better one, all it needs is the correct gold endbell...making sure the internals are 480 Gold internals in both motors, of course. It's easy to interchange Kyosho internals in same-...

Re: Spoked wheels for modern buggies?

I bought a set of those wheels & tires years ago, they're all knockoffs meant to fit HSP/Redcat Racing cars. While they are 12mm hex, they are too big a diameter for vintage RC cars and the wheels are all high positive offset. The rears will rub on your shocks or other chassis parts without usi...

Re: Spoked wheels for modern buggies?

Let me preface this by saying I'm sincerely not trying to be snarky... Amazon and Aliexpress are going to have the largest selection. Searches like "1/10 buggy wheels" ... "12mm hex buggy wheels" or... "Redcat HPI Tamiya HSP Kyosho WLToys Traxxas wheels" will bring up ...

That body looks really good for being painted on the outside. Did you clearcoat it? I'm not familiar with this car but the body looks pretty cool, aside from the front shock mount...

Re: Javelin alloy wheels?

Those are some sweet rimz! 8) I dig them too! Pargu gets the credit! I reached out via eBay and he confirmed he made them. Pargu has some cool rim designs indeed. I bought a set of these for my RWD Optima Mid car, but ended up going with something different for the finished car. I still have them a...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!

I think most of that performance difference might have to do with the jets, needles and springs. The default set you get with the Edelbrock carbs might not be ideal for optimal performance, but maybe tend towards driveability. The good thing is, changing them on an Eddy is as simple as can be. Unscr...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!

My Charger (383 Magnum) ran like crap with a Holley 750 Double Pumper. The moment I swapped it out for the Edelbrock 750, it ran great right out of the box. Admittedly, I'm sure I could've farted around with tuning and got the Holley working properly, but the ease with which the Eddy just bolted on ...

I personally wouldn't mount anything to a wing, it's the first thing that gets ripped off when you wipe out.

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!

Unfortunately, today's shops can't even fix modern vehicles, let alone handle 40+ year old technology. They just don't have the knowledge OR the equipment to work on carburated vehicles, you've got to find either an old timer's shop or a specialty shop, or, do the work yourself. Sad but true. I lea...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!

Man, kinda tedious stuff there, but enjoyable. Rebuilding carburetors is really fun, as long as you have all the correct specs and tools for all the internal and external adjustments to achieve the desired performance. A speck of a foreign object, or one off adjustment can cause a hitch in your gid...

Re: we all have big toys too don't we? show off your ride!

What's the status on the Charger? It'll hopefully be out of body & paint soon, but then...there's so much to do. Install new carpets, get seats either reupholstered or replaced with something more modern (whichever is more cost effective), reassemble interior, install new fuel tank and stainles...

Grendel resurrected

Here are some progress pics of Grendel's resurrection. She's been in body & paint since just after Christmas 2023. I never liked the original EF8 olive green color, but I wanted to remain true to her green roots--while doing something nobody has done before. Spent hours googling green-painted ca...

Looking great. Although that's a Tomahawk body, it's definitely putting out some Optima vibes. 8)
