Losi XXX vs XXX, differences and what would be the best choice

Today I meet two old friends who I raced with for a very long time. All of us are somewhat semi retired ... at least for offroad. It means we all have raced offroad at some point but moved to onroad racing somewhere in the 1990s. We have had Losi cars at some point and tried to discuss about them to...

Re: Ultimate Vintage Brushed Motor Reference Guide (Discussion Topic)

Regarding Revtech motors you have to keep in mind there are actually two different Revtech companies. The original Revtech company was started and owned by Neil McCurdy. When he went to work as the motorbuilder for Trinity, Revtech was sold to Ernie Provetti. In my mind these motors are not 'real' R...

How rare are the Yokomo magnesium parts today?

I got an used Yokomo YR-4 touring car in well used condition and thought of restoring in the first place. Now I realized this is an early version with magnesium front and rear gearboxes and magnesium motor mount. I have not seen such magnesium parts in a long time but remembered my Yokomo YZ-870C al...

Re: Yokomo YR-4 rear belt size vs other Yokomo cars belts

OK just found the info at some other thread.
Seems to be a S3M 192mm 64 tooth.
Wide I measured around 5mm.

The question is now, which company make replacement belt like this.
I found Bando still offers that diemension but 6mm wide.
So the 5mm thing was special order from Yokomo?

Yokomo YR-4 rear belt size vs other Yokomo cars belts

I got a YR-4 touring car which have the rear belt quite worn. Also you can´t read the type of belt anymore which usually is printed to the top of the belt. Tried to search for informations but can´t find anything. So someone have a new belt to look at or know the dimensions? Original belts were made...

Ball bearings mounted to the rear axles blocks.
Blocks mounted to the rear pod plate and aligned for a free, smooth running of the bearings.

Build continues, whenever I can find some time.

Rear axle blocks cleaned, bearing holes deburred and pins for the disk brake shoes mounted.

Re: RC150 Build - My First AE 1/8 Nitro Onroad Car

The Hi Johnson tank was used before the RC300. My RC100 cars came with them too. For the cap the springloaded version was the final result and made by a couple of companies. But the cap usually used was the one sold through Thorp. In the beginning a brass tube was soldered to the top of the tank wit...

Re: Associated RC300 1/8 scale project No. 2 - custom build

Maybe not really. Because the original plastic radio plate didn´t have cutouts for the servo. So you could use any servo and slightly different servo positions. But the multiple positions for the link at the servo saver arm were outstanding. I think the reason was maybe for adjusting the steering an...

Re: Associated RC300 1/8 scale project No. 2 - custom build

Parts will be assembled later, as I grabbed the main chassis and pod plate for cleaning. Chassis needs also deburring and enlarging holes.
But overall those parts are same as for my first RC300 project.

Re: Associated RC300 1/8 scale project No. 2 - custom build

For the body posts I won´t go with the original plastic ones.
As the whole car will be a customized version, I will use some rare aluminium body posts made by MCV.
This company might be unknown to most guys today.
Cleaning them now then building the assembly.

Re: Associated RC300 1/8 scale project No. 2 - custom build

The original support plate was punched out of a plastic sheet. What results in a quite rough outline. Same for the bumper and the basic radio plate. I absolutely don´t want to use parts in this condition so 'some' time is spent smoothing them. Especially as the plastic material is quite tough. Next ...
