Re: Heads up for vintage motor buyers
Yea, when it went down, I just hit him up immediately and asked WTH?! He said he would refund (which I didn't believe, honestly). He came back and offered to refund and pay the shipping , refund my money and let me keep a legitimate Twister motor for my discomfort. He offered, I accepted, and by gol...

Re: Heads up for vintage motor buyers
Scumbag scammer. I almost didn't catch it. But I could see through the bag that something wasn't right, and that even the bag didn't look right. The pictures were not close ups, but typically most of us feel that new in the bag is "new in the bag". It didn't even occur to me this kind of s...

Vintage 1/8th build, need dating and radio gear opinions.
I'm not an 1/8 gas guy, I'm a 1/12th and 235mm pan guy. But this looked fun, and here we are. A) Guess on exact age and model B) What might be good radio gear for it. I think it's an SG Futura V, not sure on date. likely 79-83? But need to pin down date so that the radio gear better matches the car....

Re: The Evolution of RC Batteries - Digital Magazine Article
cool article. :) the time line part of the article on page 72. there is no mention of 1400's or the 2400's or 3800's. :) also, no mention of the 1200sc's that were out before the 1200SCR or the 1300sc. also no mention of the 3000 panasonic ultra metal or a few others. I skimmed the article. Apologie...

Re: Question for motor collectors (hoarders)... :)
I know exactly what you mean. Collect enough to build one excellent one and sell off the rest- except I end up using the next best bits for something...and then the third best...and so on. Then I find another set if parts and have to roll it in as well. It's a dangerous road! Yea, that's probably h...

Re: Question for motor collectors (hoarders)... :)
lately I've been trying to match motors to rollers. that's part of the plan. An rc10 without a motor is like a day without sunshine . :) But yea, until I get those all organized, I need to sort the rest, so as to not keep accidentally accumulating the same things. Remember this isn't something that'...

Re: Question for motor collectors (hoarders)... :)
I have a few older motors maybe 50 or 60. I found that clear Hot Wheels car storage cases work well. Just out of curiosity what would be considered a very rare collectable vintage motor back in the 80's ?? That's almost hard to answer. I'm gonna guess it's different for everybody. Rare, collectable...

Re: Question for motor collectors (hoarders)... :)
It's a bit different when you own a big hobby shop. It would be much harder for the average Joe to accumulate such a vast amount of stuff. I can only imagine how much vintage and cool rare stuff Sheldons Hobbies had before they closed down. What some people see as dead stock others see as collectab...

Re: Question for motor collectors (hoarders)... :)
Theres a lot more of them (motors) than people think. :) figure every motor maker had every wind. initially 27 on down to say 18... then eventually on down to the single digit winds. I've never really thought about a final number, but I gotta think it's closer to 15,000 maybe that were on the market...

Re: Kyosho LeMans line up X5
Ugh...the Mega motors were evidently the end of the nice, classy-looking Kyosho motors. Those look awful. :? +1, agreed. I might be looking with a magnifying glass at a picture, trying to find out what motor is in something. and there is ALWAYS that disappointment when you realize it's a Mega. :P~~~

Question for motor collectors (hoarders)... :)
Just like a lot of you... I'm to the point where I have to do something different with the way I collect and store motors. I find myself willing to trade and swap for the things that interest me. Problem is, i can't always find a particular one I might be looking for. And if I have 5-10 of the same ...

Re: Bob Stormer, glimpse
I don't do much 1/8 onroad. and not much for offroad as a whole, some stuff. Cars I raced mostly, RC10, JRX2, Optima, radiant, MRP 2wd and 4wd, converted foxes and Mugen bulldogs. To many makes and models to do them all. I think it would be impossible in todays market to do them all, would be hundre...
