Re: Vintage Racing, what is original and OK upgrade?
Im sure this has been brought up, but has anyone considered a points system where the vintage of the electronics etc counts as much as the finishing position? Example a car that is completely 1995 or earlier vintage, every bit of electronics and all starts at 100 points. Dock 20 points for Lipo, 20...

Re: Need help identifying CAT diff case
I the XLS and later Procat had side plates with both the upper and lower holes in, true original SWB CAT had plates with just the upper ones in. So yours Dan maybe an early XLS that they just put the lower holes that was needed in? My understanding is the following: SWB and XL had single hole in up...

Re: anyone know the history of chassis materials?
Yes, I believe the XL Lexan 1/12 pan car was their first complete car. It had a moulded lexan chassis which was designed to flex.

Re: Procat Refurb No.1
A little while ago I was able to get hold of those elusive wing buttons, so they're fitted now and the car is ready to sell to make way for other projects. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/t31.0-8/11235279_958971110859763_3168541343002066706_o.jpg It's been a slow paced refurb, fitt...

Re: Lipos in a bosscat?
I cut in half a cougar SV saddle lips cradle, used the existing forward position rear holes and drilled new front holes in the Bosscat chassis. I found the weight to be too forward bias, so will be moving them back and at an angle so the new front hole goes inwards of the cutouts. Will try to find a...

Re: My 2015 XLS runner build
That's a great looking build. Loved watching all our XLS's on track where they belong. PS: I know I've ranted a bit about the brushed/brushless thing but it was aimed more at the nutty power being put into a few cars that just couldn't compete on handling. We all have our own ethos with these XLS bu...

I didn't glue mine either - didn't want to risk trashing the chrome wheels when removing them. I must have got lucky then!

Ah, so that's what happened to you in the final. I guessed you'd had some kind of drama but didn't see what it was.

Re: Back in Time - XLS For Vintage Racing
Haha, sorry, that Wasp steering will just have to go on my Procat when I get around to building it then.
Yes, Dan's XL looked excellent.

Re: Back in Time - XLS For Vintage Racing
So what happens now? Well, I probably won't race it again until next years Revival race but I definitely want to do some work on it. The FatCat shell will get fitted and I'll modify the rear upper wishbones to match the front. I also need a bit more power to compete with the brushless systems and I ...

Re: Back in Time - XLS For Vintage Racing
So, how did I get on this year? On track for the practice heat and the car felt pretty good but had way too much steering. So I swapped the front tyres to a pair of 20 odd year old NIP orange compound Schumacher two row studs. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/t31.0-8/11224885_904913...

Re: Back in Time - XLS For Vintage Racing
So heading into the 2015 Revival meeting, this was the full spec rundown: 01) Original stick pack XLS chassis. 02) Original XLS bodyset (I got as far as painting the FatCat, but had no time left to fit it). 03) Polished transmission side plates, MMS heat sink, alloy eccentrics and layshaft holders. ...
