Need help identifying CAT diff case

I'm in the process of restoring an old Schumacher CAT XLS and I'm missing the whole rear end (diff, shocks wishbones etc). I found a diff case on eBay but I'm unsure as to which model the diff case belongs to.

The pair of holes at the top of the rear of the gearbox sides identify it as XLS gearbox. The XLS lowered the rear upper wishbone mounts.

My spare diff case has 2 holes on the right hand side and one hole on the left, in the correct position for the XLS . It's some sort of aftermarket carbon fibre . The one on the right is a normal metal type. There seems to be so many variations of parts that it makes it hard to know what is correct and what is not.

I the XLS and later Procat had side plates with both the upper and lower holes in, true original SWB CAT had plates with just the upper ones in. So yours Dan maybe an early XLS that they just put the lower holes that was needed in?

all i can confirm is my car was built as it was from the kit.
The buggy is very original down to the UK dirt still stuck to it.
I replaced a few parts on it like the body and tires and some broken parts i did a mechanical rebuild on it but otherwise i left it as a survivor with some war wounds. has the front oneway, etc. for a cleaner look i used a O-ring in place of a rubber band for the front crash foldback suspension.

Would you happen to have a pic of the front end with the o-ring installed?

Those I´ve raced against back then, used three 2mm round o-rings. If one snapped You´d still be able to finish.

Smart. I don't think I'll have to worry about that tho. I couldn't imagine putting mine through anything strenuous enough to break one of these. It's going to be run up and down the driveway a few times before retiring on a shelf. Just too expensive to repair if you're even lucky enough to find the parts.

All mine run with 3 O-rings. I personally think crashback is great - never broken a front wishbone or hub.

My understanding is the following:
SWB and XL had single hole in upper position.
XLS had both holes.
Procat had just the lower hole.

Knowing Schumacher production back then, it wouldn't surprise me if either a few XLS's were shipped with Procat plates or vice-versa.

Regarding hole sizes on XLS sideplates, I've come across some sideplates with both holes the same and others with the lower one slightly larger. The XLS has an M3 threaded rod through that hole rather than a self tapping screw and it is much easier to assemble if the hole is a tiny bit larger than the others. I've definitely seem some DIY enlargements, but perhaps it's possible later production models might have had larger holes.
